When you are flying to a destination which two different airlines are involved, is there a higher chance of..?
having your luggage lost? Next month, I will be flying from San Antonio, to New Haven Ct., and the first flight will be American which will take me to Dallas, and then there is a fllight that is US Airways that will take me from Dallas to Philladelphia, and then on to New Haven. Ive always followed through with the one airline from beginning to end, this time I had no choice. I booked my fight with a travel agency on line, and since American doesnt go straight through to New Haven, they put me on US Airways from Dallas. Im just so afraid of loosing my luggage. Anyone had any problems with flights like this?

No, the odds are pretty much the same whether it's the same airline or different ones.
2 :
Logically, your luggage may get lost....besides, US airways is number one for lost luggage...especially at PHL
3 :
dont worry about things that ,might not happen, just enjoy youre holiday, the odds of youre lugage getting lost is vertualy nill
4 :
Put a typed copy of your plans along with your cell phone number on the inside of the bag. If it does get lost then it has a better chance of getting returned to you.

The odds are a little higher, but not much. Staying on one airline is not a guarantee that it can't get lost, either, so don't lose any sleep over it. Just to be on the safe side, I suggest packing one change of clothes in your carry-on bag along with toiletries, medication, and anything else that you can't afford to lose. In the unlikely event that your checked bag does get lost, you can at least change clothes and brush your teeth the next day while you're waiting for it to turn up.

book your tickets ASAP because thats about 4-5 weeks away the general rule of thumb is to purchase your tickets 8-12 weeks before your departure to insure yourself the cheapest ticket, at this point the prices have gone up and will continue to go up so buy your tickets ASAP.

See if Southwest Airlines has anything.

Does Delta Airlines Suck

Does Delta Airlines Suck?
Even though there was a slight hitch in their plan, a group of Boy Scouts who, while on their way to a national competition in Indiana, found themselves stranded in Atlanta, are now on their way. After exhausting all other options to find a flight that would get them to Indiana before 8 a.m. Sunday, the Scouts were able to rent a charter bus, which Delta will be covering the cost, said Carlos Santos, Delta spokesman. Although they bought their plane tickets in April, the group of 30 Boy Scouts and their eight chaperones were forced to rent the bus Saturday afternoon when the airline overbooked their flight. On their way to the National Order of the Arrow Conference (NOAC) at Indiana University, the scouts and chaperones arrived in Atlanta shortly after 4 p.m. said Andrew Carranco, one of the chaperones. They were supposed to fly directly to Indiana from San Antonio, but when they arrived at San Antonio International Airport, they were bumped from their flight. Why? According to Carranco, their Delta flight was overbooked and they were being diverted to Atlanta. “When we got off the plane in Atlanta, we were told we should have never come here, he said. According to Santos, it is rare that customers get bumped from flights. “Normally when that happens, he said, “It is due to a number of issues. In the past few days there have been a number of thunderstorms in the northeast region and here in Atlanta that have caused flight delays and cancellations. When the Scouts began planning for the trip, they intentionally purchased all 38 tickets under one person’s name to ensure they would have no problems. “The boys have spent hours preparing for this competition and spent thousands of dollars in costuming, Carranco said. If they do not make it to Indiana by 8 a.m. Sunday morning, 21 of the 30 boys will be disqualified, he said. Delta officials initially offered to put the group up in a hotel for the night and on a first thing in the morning. However, that wold have caused them to get to Indiana by 10 a.m. Sunday, Carranco said. That would have been too late. The group tried feverishly to find other means of transportation. While Carranco was dealing with the Delta officials, another chaperone was on the phone with bus companies and the others were catering to the boys. “I have been extremely impressed with how well everyone has handled themselves, said Carranco. “I have been doing this for awhile and have never seen everyone handle themselves so well. They expect to arrive in Indiana around 3 a.m. The 611-mile trip is a nine and a half hour drive.

Its not at all uncommon for airlines to overbook flights. It was just unfortunate that they overbooked a flight that was serving 30 boy scouts. From my own personal experience I have never had a problem with Delta and I, in fact, prefer them over other legacy carriers (eg. AA, United, US Airways)

p ersonally like delta airlines. i have never had a problem with them. also its not common for that to happen

Delta is a very good airline, but it is not uncommon for any airline to overbook. I am sooo sorry that this experience happened to you and all those boys, but once everyone gets home and rested, it might even be a comical memory. You should be very proud of the way all the boys reacted to this and that in itself should earn them a badge - maybe make one up as it is not easy traveling with that large of a group and having something so frustrating happen. I am glad that the Delta employees were so helpful to you. Don't write Delta off for this, give them another chance.

there are quite a few sites that you can search that will likely give you the best prices available. check out the website BookMe and you will be able to compare prices on all the reputable travel sites in just a couple minutes. it's very convenient and will save you a bunch of time and money. Also, make sure you buy them online... otherwise they charge much higher fees for phone orders. good luck.

They certainly do. What a great thing those boys were well behaved - that could have been a nightmare for the chaperones.
