Please Read This--General Chong..Comments please..?
The General Has is Right! I had no idea who General Chong is or the source of these thoughts... so when I received them, I almost deleted them - as well-written as they are. But then I did "Google and USA Today" searches on the General and found him to be a retired Air Force Surgeon of all things and past Commander of Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio. So he is real, is connected to Veterans affairs, and these are his thoughts. They are worth reading and thinking about!! (the same Google search will direct you to some of his other thought-provoking writings.) [See MG (Dr) Vernon Chong Biographical Data at: http://www.af.mil/bios/bio.asp?bioID=5000 MG Vernon Chong, USAFR forwarded: ********************************************************************************************** This WAR is for REAL! To get out of a difficulty, one usually must go through it. Our country is now facing the most serious threat to its existence, as we know it, that we have faced in your lifetime and mine (which includes WWII). The deadly seriousness is greatly compounded by the fact that there are very few of us who think we can possibly lose this war and even fewer who realize what losing really means. First, let's examine a few basics: 1. When did the threat to us start? Many will say -September 11, 2001. The answer as far as the United States is concerned is 1979, 22 years prior to September 2001, with the following attacks on us: * Iran Embassy Hostages, 1979; * Beirut, Lebanon Embassy 1983; * Beirut, Lebanon Marine Barracks 1983; * Lockerbie, Scotland Pan-Am flight to New York 1988; * First New York World Trade Center attack 1993; * Dhahran, Saudi Arabia Khobar Towers Military complex 1996; * Nairobi, Kenya US Embassy 1998; * Dares Salaam, Tanzania US Embassy 1998; * Aden, Yemen USS Cole 2000; * New York World Trade Center 2001; * Pentagon 2001. (Note that during the period from 1981 to 2001 there were 7,581 terrorist attacks worldwide). 2. Why were we attacked? Envy of our position, our success, and our freedoms. The attacks happened during the administrations of Presidents Carter, Reagan, Bush 1, Clinton and Bush 2. We cannot fault either the Republicans or Democrats as there were no provocations by any of the presidents or their immediate predecessors, Presidents Ford or Carter. 3. Who were the attackers? In each case, the attacks on the US were carried out by Muslims. 4. What is the Muslim population of the World? 25%. 5. Isn't the Muslim Religion peaceful? Hopefully, but that is really not material. There is no doubt that the predominately Christian population of Germany was peaceful, but under the dictatorial leadership of Hitler (who was also Christian), that made no difference. You either went along with the administration or you were eliminated. There were 5 to 6 million Christians killed by the Nazis for political reasons (including 7,000 Polish priests). (see http://www.nazis.testimony.co.uk/7-a.htm ) Thus, almost the same number of Christians were killed by the Nazis, as the six million holocaust Jews who were killed by them, and we seldom heard of anything other than the Jewish atrocities. Although Hitler kept the world focused on the Jews, he had no hesitancy about killing anyone who got in his way of exterminating the Jews or of taking over the world - German, Christian or any others. Same with the Muslim terrorists. They focus the world on the US, but kill all in the way -- their own people or the Spanish, French or anyone else. The point here is that just like the peaceful Germans were of no protection to anyone from the Nazis, no matter how many peaceful Muslims there may be, they are no protection for us from the terrorist Muslim leaders and what they are fanatically bent on doing -- by their own pronouncements -- killing all of us "infidels." I don't blame the peaceful Muslims. What would you do if the choice was shut up or die? 6. So who are we at war with? There is no way we can honestly respond that it is anyone other than the Muslim terrorists. Trying to be politically correct and avoid verbalizing this conclusion can well be fatal. There is no way to win if you don't clearly recognize and articulate who you are fighting. So with that background, now to the two major questions: 1. Can we lose this war? 2. What does losing really mean? If we are to win, we must clearly answer these two pivotal questions. We can definitely lose this war, and as anomalous as it may sound, the major reason we can lose is that so many of us simply do not fathom the answer to the second question - What does losing mean? It would appear that a great many of us think that losing the war means hanging our heads, bringing the troops home and going on about our business, like post Vietnam. This is as far from the truth as one can get. What losing really means is: We would no longer be the premier country in the world. The attacks will not subside, but rather will steadily increase. Remember, they want us dead, not just quiet. If they had just wanted us quiet, they would not have produced an increasing series of attacks against us, over the past 18 years. The plan was clearly, for terrorist to attack us, until we were neutered and submissive to them. We would of course have no future support from other nations , for fear of reprisals and for the reason that they would see, we are impotent and cannot help them. They will pick off the other non-Muslim nations, one at a time. It will be increasingly easier for them. They already hold Spain hostage. It doesn't matter whether it was right or wrong for Spain to withdraw its troops from Iraq. Spain did it because the Muslim terrorists bombed their train and told them to withdraw the troops. Anything else they want Spain to do will be done. Spain is finished. The next will probably be France. Our one hope on France is that they might see the light and realize that if we don't win, they are finished too, in that they can't resist the Muslim terrorists without us. However, it may already be too late for France. France is already 20% Muslim and fading fast! If we lose the war, our production, income, exports and way of life will all vanish as we know it. After losing, who would trade or deal with us, if they were threatened by the Muslims. If we can't stop the Muslims, how could anyone else? The Muslims fully know what is riding on this war, and therefore are completely committed to winning, at any cost. We better know it too and be likewise committed to winning at any cost. Why do I go on at such lengths about the results of losing? Simple. Until we recognize the costs of losing, we cannot unite and really put 100% of our thoughts and efforts into winning. And it is going to take that 100% effort to win. So, how can we lose the war? Again, the answer is simple. We can lose the war by "imploding." That is, defeating ourselves by refusing to recognize the enemy and their purpose, and really digging in and lending full support to the war effort. If we are united , there is no way that we can lose. If we continue to be divided, there is no way that we can win! Let me give you a few examples of how we simply don't comprehend the life and death seriousness of this situation. President Bush selects Norman Mineta as Secretary of Transportation. Although all of the terrorist attacks were committed by Muslim men between 17 and 40 years of age, Secretary Mineta refuses to allow profiling. Does that sound like we are taking this thing seriously? This is war! For the duration, we are going to have to give up some of the civil rights we have become accustomed to. We had better be prepared to lose some of our civil rights temporarily or we will most certainly lose all of them permanently. And don't worry that it is a slippery slope. We gave up plenty of civil rights during WWII, and immediately restored them after the victory and in fact added many more since then. Do I blame President Bush or President Clinton before him? No, I blame us for blithely assuming we can maintain all of our Political Correctness, and all of our civil rights during this conflict and have a clean, lawful, honorable war. None of those words apply to war. Get them out of your head. Some have gone so far in their criticism of the war and/or the Administration that it almost seems they would literally like to see us lose. I hasten to add that this isn't because they are disloyal. It is because they just don't recognize what losing means. Nevertheless, that conduct gives the impression to the enemy that we are divided and weakening. It concerns our friends, and it does great damage to our cause. Of more recent vintage, the uproar fueled by the politicians and media regarding the treatment of some prisoners of war, perhaps exemplifies best what I am saying. We have recently had an issue, involving the treatment of a few Muslim prisoners of war, by a small group of our military police. These are the type prisoners who just a few months ago were throwing their own people off buildings, cutting off their hands, cutting out their tongues and otherwise murdering their own people just for disagreeing with Saddam Hussein. And just a few years ago these same type prisoners chemically killed 400,000 of their own people for the same reason. They are also the same type enemy fighters, who recently were burning Americans, and dragging their charred corpses through the streets of Iraq. And still more recently, the same type enemy that was and is providing videos to all news sources internationally, of the beheading of American prisoners they held. Compare this with some of our press and politicians, who for several days have thought and talked about nothing else but the "humiliating" of some Muslim prisoners -- not burning them, not dragging their charred corpses through the streets , not beheading them, but "humiliating" them. Can this be for real? The politicians and pundits have even talked of impeachment of the Secretary of Defense. If this doesn't show the complete lack of comprehension and understanding of the seriousness of the enemy we are fighting, the life and death struggle we are in and the disastrous results of losing this war, nothing can. To bring our country to a virtual political standstill over this prisoner issue makes us look like Nero playing his fiddle as Rome burned -- totally oblivious to what is going on in the real world. Neither we, nor any other country, can survive this internal strife. Again I say, this does not mean that some of our politicians or media people are disloyal. It simply means that they are absolutely oblivious to the magnitude, of the situation we are in and into which the Muslim terrorists have been pushing us, for many years. Remember, the Muslim terrorists stated goal is to kill all infidels! That translates into ALL non-Muslims -- not just in the United States, but throughout the world. We are the last bastion of defense. We have been criticized for many years as being 'arrogant.' That charge is valid in at least one respect. We are arrogant in that we believe that we are so good, powerful and smart, that we can win the hearts and minds of all those who attack us, and that with both hands tied behind our back , we can defeat anything bad in the world! We can't! If we don't recognize this, our nation as we know it will not survive, and no other free country in the world will survive if we are defeated. And finally, name any Muslim countries throughout the world that allow freedom of speech, freedom of thought, freedom of religion, freedom of the press, equal rights for anyone -- let alone everyone, equal status or any status for women, or that have been productive in one single way that contributes to the good of the world. This has been a long way of saying that we must be united on this war or we will be equated in the history books to the self-inflicted fall of the Roman Empire. If, that is, the Muslim leaders will allow history books to be written or read. If we don't win this war right now, keep a close eye on how the Muslims take over France in the next 5 years or less. They will continue to increase the Muslim population of France and continue to encroach little by little, on the established French traditions. The French will be fighting among themselves, over what should or should not be done, which will continue to weaken them and keep them from any united resolve. Doesn't that sound eerily familiar? Democracies don't have their freedoms taken away from them by some external military force. Instead, they give their freedoms away, politically correct piece by politically correct piece. And they are giving those freedoms away to those who have shown, worldwide, that they abhor freedom and will not apply it to you or even to themselves, once they are in power. They have universally shown that when they have taken over, they then start brutally killing each other over who will be the few who control the masses. Will we ever stop hearing from the politically correct, about the "peaceful Muslims"? I close on a hopeful note, by repeating what I said above. If we are united, there is no way that we can lose. I hope now after the election, the factions in our country will begin to focus on the critical situation we are in, and will unite to save our country. It is your future we are talking about! Do whatever you can to preserve it. After reading the above, we all must do this not only for ourselves, but our children, our grandchildren, our country and the world. Whether Democrat or Republican, conservative or liberal and that includes the Politicians and media of our country and the free world! Please forward this to any you feel may want, or NEED to read it. Our "leaders" in Congress ought to read it, too. There are those that find fault with our country, but it is obvious to anyone who truly thinks through this, that we must UNITE!

What does losing mean to me? It means looking out my front window seeing all the trailer trash tossing cigarette butts and plugging my bush with empty cans of busch beer. You can brand them with any label you want, Jew, Gypsy, Muslim, Christen,... It's not funny how the new puckers are the same as the old puckers.

i agree completely.what has happened to our country politically has occurred slowly and now we have to come together quickly.but, can we?i am as a firm believer in my politics as are the others on the other side.but we must stop this petty bickering and show a united front.no one has to change their beliefs.but just as we did in WWII fight the evil ones together and defeat them.then we can get back to fighting within the family.as any kid with siblings knows.i can pick on my brothe or sister but everyone else better leave him/her alone or you'll have me to fight too.

Flying on an airplane with a baby

Flying on an airplane with a baby?
Hello :) So, my son is 4 months old and we will be traveling from San Antonio Texas to Pittsburgh Pennsylvania for Halloween to see my sisters. I am absolutely PETRIFIED about flying with him. Although he's not an ultra-fussy baby he still gets upset if he's not being entertained or played with. I'm very nervous that while on the plane he's going to be screaming because his ears will hurt from going up and down in the plane. I chose an aisle seat so I'll be able to go to the bathroom as I please and be able to walk up and down the aisle if necessary, I don't want to have to disturb anyone. I also was just going to hold him on my lap since we will be only going on two flights, (a 1 hour flight and then a 3 hour flight) I figured it wouldn't be too bad to hold him. Now I'm really regretting not getting him his own seat for his carseat. Do any of you travelling moms have any advice? I am really scared, I don't think I've ever been so scared for anything in my life! Please tell me I'm not being overdramatic and this is normal? Thanks! :)

no you are not being dramatic, im sure he may be annoying to some but theyc an mind their own buisiness, i reccomend that you bring him a toy that lights up and or a binky for him to suck on so he will be occupied and most likely he wont cry with it in his mouth
2 :
If you want to keep him quiet give him tranquilizers. They do it for adults.
3 :
I flew from El Paso, TX to Louisville, KY with a baby. I gave him Hylands teething tablets and Advil to keep him calm. It worked quite well in all honesty.
4 :
People travel every day on thousands of flights with infants and there are never any major issues with other passengers. Try to ensure he is tired, so the probability of sleeping is more likely. Take a favourite toy too.

Cheap airline with non-stop flights?

No airlines fly nonstop between TUL and SAT -- all of the airlines that serve those markets (Southwest, American, Continental, and others) have a stop (usually in Dallas or Houston). That having been said, children of that age flying without an adult will usually be required to utilize the unaccompanied minor program (even on non-stop flights). This program, for an additional fee, is good for connections, as it ensures that airline staff will help them get to their next gate and make sure that everything goes smoothly.

No cheap airline tickes anymore........the cost of fuel got them all.

Will 2 hours be enough time to clear customs/immigration at ORD (Chicago O' Hare?)

Will 2 hours be enough time to clear customs/immigration at ORD (Chicago O' Hare?)?
Hi I have a flight booked from Tokyo Narita scheduled to arrive at 3:17pm and then departs from Chicago to San Antonio, TX at 5:30pm. I wanted to know if that is enough time to clear all the hoopla (customs, etc) and make it to my gate. It is the spring break weekend (the Sunday before I go back to work). There is another outbound flight but it's a good 4 hours later. If I miss it, will I be able to take the next one or do I go Standby? Thanks so much.

Two hours should be fine if your original flight is close to on-time. I've never had a problem making a connection in Chicago with that much time between flights from Europe to the US.

THE WAR Please take the time to read the essay below by Dr. Chong. It is without a doubt the most articulate and convincing writing I have read regarding the War in Iraq. If you have any doubts please open your mind to his essay and give it a fair evaluation. I had no idea who Dr. Chong is or the source of these thoughts... so when I received them, I almost deleted them - as well-written as they are. And they are giving those freedoms away to those who have shown, worldwide that they abhor freedom and will not apply it to you or even to themselves, once they are in power. I hope the factions in our country will begin to focus on the critical situation we are in, and will unite to save our country. There are those that find fault with our country, but it is obvious to anyone who truly thinks through this, that we must UNITE, share our concerns and hold the blind accountable for misleading the masses! If you would like to see who this fellow is go to this Air Force web sight and look him up. http://www.af.mil/bios/bio.asp?bioID=5000

I'm probably the only one who actually read that whole thing. Right off the bat my B.S. detector went wild. There are grammar and punctuation errors in that "essay" as well as some tried and true cliche's. So point 2 seconds later I had turned up the whole miserable story on Google. Turns out it is an urban legend, a hoax, a sham. You've been played for a patsy dude. And by the way, no one knows when Jesus is coming back, not even Jesus. Look it up.

It is true that the world has suffered terrorism long enough and that if we stand devided we will be conquered for devided we fall united we stand. So what is the answer cast out Muslims, burn their mosks in Northern America? Doesn't that make us just like the terrorists? Didn't we take them in because they were terrorized or was that part of the bigger plan outlined in your question. I believe the terrorists are here have intermarried with our race and are just waiting for a call to action. It may already be too late.

A very interesting read. I don't know that our doom is as dark as what he makes out, but I think he has a lot of good points, and his conclusion is dead-on - America must unite. This does not mean that Jesus is returning imminently - we do not know the time or the hour when He will. Consider this. People claim that the verse "a day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day" means that when Jesus says "all these [appocalyptic events] shall come upon this generation" could mean thousands of years later, ergo in our lifetime. But if you apply that same hermaneutic to God's words to Moses "I will show mercy upon thousands of generations of those that love me," some very wild conclusions can be reached. Say Moses' generation was the only one that ever loved God, we have another 30,000 plus years that we can expect to wait for Christ's return (one generation = 40 years, x 1,000). The fact is, there have always been wars and rumors of wars, floods, earthquakes, etc, and we cannot predict Jesus' return by them. Could be today, or could be many millennia in the future. Hope this helps. Respek.

I think that there's a possibility. From what I read here, it looks like it is going to fall into another depression-and from what the bible says...world war III IS going to be the end of the world. And...from what other people wrote...as you can see, people don't take this seriously enough to cooperate and unite. We need to do something NOW. This is some pretty important information that really should be shared around the world...we need to unite.

Will my boyfriend have any free time after Air force basic training graduation to spend with me

Will my boyfriend have any free time after Air force basic training graduation to spend with me?
My boyfriend is leaving on March 3rd for Air Force basic training. I live in southern California and we are trying to figure out if it is worth the money for me to fly to San Antonio for his graduation. We don't want to spend money for a flight to Texas only to spend 30 minutes together. We can't afford it right now. So i guess what I'm getting at is will my boyfriend be able to go off base with me at all or will he have to go to technical training immediately after graduation? If so how many days will he be allowed to go off base? Thanks everyone you were a lot of help :) I really appreciate it.

Not sure how it works for the Air Force but in the Army you get a family day where you have a day you can spend with your family before graduation.
4 :
Of course you will! I actually went through this with my husband in dec 2008. They might send you a letter in the mail, if he put you as a contact. But graduations are always on fridays. So on the thursday before the graduation, you get to see him run by in squadron formation, and they have the coin ceremony. after that, from about 1pm to 6:30-7p, they can hang around on base with you. They cannot leave the base on that thursday. Then friday, after the graduation, they show you their dorms, and then they have a town pass. while i was there, my husband had a town pass until 7pm, on that friday and saturday. Town pass starts at 9am on saturday and he gets to hang out off base all day. He also had a town pass on that sunday from 9am until 7pm, but i left on sunday morning. But in all, yes you will have time to spend with him. (unless he did something wrong and his TI takes his town pass, but im sure he'll behave.) And to give you a heads up, I stays from the weds before the graduation and i left that sunday morning, and i spent about $600, and another $200 once i got there for food, shopping, etc. And that was just for one person! let me know if you have any other questions... im more than willing to help :)
5 :
Generally, yes. He will have his Airman's run and coin ceremony that Thursday. This is where he actually recieves the title of Airman, no more Trainee! Then he'll be released for base liberty. This means you guys can spend time together on Base. Friday is Parade in the morning (the actual ceremony), and then he is released for the day and must return by whatever curfew he is given. Then Saturday, most people receive a town pass. This means he can finally leave Lackland with you! Sunday is usually base lib like the other days with an earlier curfew (usually between 3-6pm). Now, there's a few things to take into consideration. This is the military, so nothing is promised or set. His TI has the power to restrict his base lib or town pass time if he or his flight screws up. Mine took 2 hours away of Sunday base lib from our flight because one of our element leaders was flirting with an Airman from our brother flight. Also, with the new 8 week schedule, there may have been some changes to the exact schedule. He will have the oppurtunity to send a Graduation schedule along with Vehicle passes for anyone visting after he arrives at BMT. This should be what you go by. Another thing to consider, he will have the opportunity to gain extra town pass time by either achieving Thunderbolt or higher on his physical fitness evaluation, or by his flight doing well and earning honors. My husband and family were fortunate enough to get lodging on Lackland. So I was happy even if we didn't get town pass because I could spend all day with them at the hotel and not stuck at the PX or bowling alley like everyone else. Also, lodging is very affordable, BUT you must call and make a reservation ahead of time, AND they usually only take reservations 3 days in advance (this was as of August last year). Soooo, it really is up to you. It feels GREAT to see the people you care about after going through basic, and while even 30 minutes with each other seems worth it after such a stressful accomplishment, if it's not financially appropriate for you, then hopefully you can arrange a visit while he is at Tech school (this also depends on his AFSC and what kind of training he is in for it to be worth it). But coming from someone who went through just the 6 week BMT, I know I would've given anything for even just a minute with my family and for them to be there to see me graduate. It is such a proud feeling. He's made a great decision to join the Air Force, wish him good luck for me. BMT is over before you know it!
6 :
the day of graduation, you two will be able to spend the whole entire afternoon together as well as the day after/before graduation. [im pretty sure, thats what i read since my boyfriend is at Lackland AFB for basic for the Air Force too...graduating March 6th!!] you two will definitely spend more than 30 minutes together, but keep in mind that after those couple of days you spend with him he has to leave for tech school. he is allowed to have "town passes" and thats pretty much where he can leave base until a certain time then he has to report back to his barrack and you two can either be together on base, or in the san antonio area. [i heard the san antonio river walk is awesome] i hope i helped <3

Will I need to recheck my bag for multiple international layovers

Will I need to recheck my bag for multiple international layovers?
I will be flying from San Antonio to Kathmandu soon, making 4 stops using 4 different airlines. Two of the airlines I believe are affiliates (Jet Airways and Air India). I fly from San Antonio to Dallas on American Airlines. Next I fly from Dallas to Toronto on Air Canada. Then from Toronto to Heathrow on Air India. That same plane will take me on to Delhi where I switch to a Jet Airways fight to Kathmandu. The average time between flights is about 3 to 3 and a half hours which I hope is enough. The change in Dallas however is only one hour and 45 minutes. Air India and Jet Airways assign seats at check-in so I'll likely be getting my tickets when I arrive in those airports. This is my first international flight and I'm not sure when, where, or if I'll need to re-check my baggage and it has me kind of worried as all of my gear for 6 months is in one checked bag. Any help or advice I would greatly appreciate. Thanks! Also, do you think I'll be able to check my bag to my destination?

Once you check your bags, the entire procedure should be behind the scenes. That being said, your bags will go through Customs Checks at Pearson, Heathrow, and Indira Gandhi. Unless you're carrying something the local Customs people don't like, it won't have much effect on you. Personally, since you'll be spending all your time in the International Area of each airport (i.e.: the Departure Lounges behind Security), you won't face Customs until you land in India. Good Luck!
2 :
You will have to re-check luggage every stop, except in Dallas.

Should undocumented immigrant student who attend Harvard University be deported

Should undocumented immigrant student who attend Harvard University be deported?
Harvard student faces deportation to Mexico By Maria Sacchetti, Globe Staff A 19-year-old Harvard biology student, who has been in the United States unlawfully since he was 4 years old, was detained at a Texas airport this week and is now fighting deportation to his native Mexico. Eric Balderas, a sophomore on a full scholarship to Harvard, was detained Monday while preparing to board a flight back to Boston to spend the summer conducting research at the university. He had been visiting his mother in San Antonio, where he grew up and was valedictorian of his high school class. Balderas said he had lost his Mexican passport and tried to board the flight using a consular card from the Mexican government and his Harvard identification. Instead, he said, airport security called immigration officials, who handcuffed and fingerprinted him, and detained him for five hours before letting him go. He boarded a flight back to Boston the next day, pending a July 6 court date with an immigration judge, probably in Boston. Today, Balderas was shaken and fearful of being forced to return to a country he barely remembers. He hopes to finish school and become a cancer researcher. "I’m very worried to be honest," he said in an interview. "I’m willing to fight this, of course. I’m just hanging in there." Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokesman Brian P. Hale would not comment on Balderas's case because of privacy laws, but he said ICE evaluates each case on an individual basis. Balderas's arrest comes a year after Harvard President Drew Gilpin Faust urged Congress to support the Dream Act, federal legislation that would allow immigrant youths to apply for legal residency, under certain conditions. Faust also recently met with US Senator Scott Brown, in part to urge him to support the measure. A Harvard spokeswoman praised Balderas today and said he is an example of why Congress should pass the act. "Eric Balderas has already demonstrated the discipline and work ethic required for rigorous university work, and has, like so many of our undergraduates, expressed an interest in making a difference in the world," said Harvard spokeswoman Christine Heenan. "These dedicated young people are vital to our nation’s future, and President Faust’s support of the Dream Act reflects Harvard’s commitment to access and opportunity for students like Eric." The Dream Act would create a path to legal residency for youths who arrived before they turned 16 and have lived here for five years. They would have to complete two years of college or the military, among other requirements to qualify. Opponents say it would reward students and their families who broke the law by entering the country illegally, but supporters point out that children had no say in their parents' decision to bring them to the United States. The presidents of Harvard, Brown, Tufts, and other universities have backed the legislation, which has been stalled since 2001. Balderas' stunned friends and classmates today, who rallied to his defense, joining a Facebook page and urging immigration officials to let him stay. They said he has tried to be a good citizen and stellar student. Friends pointed out that Balderas barely remembers Mexico, and feels like English is his first language. "He's like an American, but without documents," said Mario Rodas, a member of the Student Immigrant Movement, which has been pushing for legal residency for immigrant youth. "These are the kind of people we need in this country, doing research for cancer." Balderas said he is the son of a single mother who left an abusive husband and worked 12-hour days packing biscuits while raising him, and his younger brother and sister in San Antonio. At home, he would babysit his siblings while juggling homework on his own. "I honestly never thought I’d make it into college because of my status but I just really enjoyed school too much and I gave it a shot," he said. "I did strive for this." Now he is at one of the world's best universities, majoring in molecular and cellular biology. But on Monday, as he sat handcuffed, he said he contemplated suicide at the thought of being sent back to Mexico. He does not remember his hometown of Ciudad Acuna, in the northern state of Coahuila. His family is in Texas. "They just kept (asking) me if I had any other documents, that they were just trying to help me so that I can get on the plane," he said, recalling his conversation with immigration officials. "But at that point I realized there was nothing that I could do, that anybody could do." http://www.boston.com/news/local/breaking_news/2010/06/harvard_student_5.html

Went to Harvard and all, and STILL wasn't smart enough to not travel by plane as an illegal. Were the immigration guys impressed by his vocabulary, at least? Just wonderin'
5 :
She needs to go back to where ever she came from, made as an example and the school need not transfer credits.
6 :
There is nothing about this illegal alien that justifies special treatment. Deport him. Why even have immigration laws, if these types of exceptions are going to be made.
7 :
what a painful question to answer........NO is the answer.....if the young man could prove he was enrolled in school.....let him stay.....Harvard is impressive but it could be any university... i find it disgusting that our government hasn't adopted a humane path to citizenship and a road or policy for immediate deportation..........to start with... 1. seal the boarders..... 2. deport illegals who commits a single crime 3. encourage citizenship with requirements for knowledge of American History, speaking english, and no dual citizenship.
8 :
If you can't even be honest in your terminology, don't bother asking questions.
9 :
Well, how many forms did the student fill out with false information in order to get accepted to the university, as well as to be eligible for the scholarship? It is unfortunate to see someone take advantage of the opportunities afforded to citizens of the US under false pretense and make the most of it to better his life and the life of his family. However, he is here illegally and if he lied on his admittance application about his citizenship as well as the scholarship application, then he needs to pay a price for breaking the law.
10 :
I coudln't bare myself to read all that.. I am not american, I am Canadian.. I do not like illegal immigrants, due to the fact their illegal. However, all people deserve a better life, so I do not cast them down... It is unfortuante that he could not recieve citizenship.. I hope the american government allows this very smart individual to become a member of the U.S. He obviously has the brains, and potential cancer reaserchers should not be discarded. Illegal immigration is a tough issue... everyone deserves a second chance, however economies can only cover certain amount of people and there needs to be a limit on who can come for the economic stability of a nation. I wish this guy the best of luck.

Mexico should send a private plane.Mexico says of America-“USA is crime and terrorism. Why would they want any of their people here with that mindset ?

undocumented immigrant ---is to--- illegal alien AS aeronautical intercourse ---is to--- flying f*ck Send him, his family, all distant relatives and most of his friends back to Mexico. Hell as bad as the US is, (according to el presidente') why would anyone with citizenship elsewhere live here?
13 :
yes
14 :
{Being sarcastic here:} Sure am glad some stupid American volunteered to die in Iraq-nam so an illegal could attend Harvard on the American dime and get all the safety, security, and benefits America has to offer without putting himself at risk. Maybe he even got the job of the AMERICAN soldier who died over there. Send the illegals to Afghanistan to fight, and if they win, let them keep the country. And bring our troops home to protect our borders. American soldiers are not bleeding and dying to protect the "rights" of illegal aliens. If you legalize one, you will have to legalize them all after they sue for discrimination and win (because bleeding heart liberal would let them). P S My draft number was 119, so I served my country to help keep and maintain the gains made over the years by other patriotic Americans.

Serious question about L.A. transportation

Serious question about L.A. transportation?
In the first round when L.A. was playing the Nuggets... I heard while the Nuggets players were leaving their hotels to go to the Staples Center their bus caught on fire. Then when the San Antonio Spurs were leaving New Orleans to arrive at L.A. their plane had "technical difficulties", and the players were forced to sleep at the airport, in their cars and on the plane. Then last night, I heard when the Boston Celtics were leaving L.A. to arrive at Boston, their plane had "technical difficulties" and their flight was delayed a few hours and they arrived late to Boston. What the hell is going on here?? Snakes on a plane....ahahhahahahhaha

I heard someone say that "God was a Laker." It is a very weird coincidence that everyone playing LA had some kind of transportation problem, but no one can be blamed. Its a freak accident, all three. It is freaky though.
3 :
Well, the Celtics and Nuggets thing were two completely different forms of transportation. Then the Spurs thing was way different because that was in New Orleans and had nothing to do with L.A.
4 :
lakers is crazy
5 :
Denver bus was on fire when they were driving.....whichi think had nothing to do with lakers ....Spurs had to stay at N.O becuz of the Technical difficuties ...still had nothing to with LA ... But yesterday the real lakers fans thought of doing something really nice for lakers....

What about the Jazz? Lakers are evil-doers and Satan has come. AHAHAHA!

Every team has their own transportation. Maybe there were snakes on a plane. aha

The fact that this has happened to all the teams who have been playing LA is a little suspicious to me. I'd like to think that all of these things are just random coincidence. But, with things happening to every team the Lakers have played against just being coincidence is tough for me to believe. Then again it could all just be random coincidence.
11 :
O wow I didn't notice it happened to all those teams that is really weird!!! They should fix the problems they have with their transportation or something that is just lame.
12 :
I would like to think its merely coincidence...but who knows...maybe the Lakers have a way of hiring "technicians" or whoever to operate the transportation of opposing teams....doesnt matter though...the Celtics are killing the Lakers

This is for Texas Residents/College Students: are your colleges and universities going down hill

This is for Texas Residents/College Students: are your colleges and universities going down hill?
I'm considering relocating to Austin, Texas (or San Antonio) after nursing school. My parents are getting old and sick and I have a sixteen-year-old brother who lives with them and might need some guidance himself as he approaches college age. My family lives in a shithole, dead-end, ghetto town in Florida called Bradenton (or Bradentucky as the locals call it). I refuse to live there, or anywhere in the state of Florida for that matter. But, oddly enough, I really dig Texas and I think Austin or San Antonio would be awesome Texan cities to live in that are relatively close to Florida. I already know that Texans value the whole "surivial of the fittest" thing, and that its schools are usually populated by white students with rich parents who can afford all the tuition, books, and living expenses out-of-pocket. If I move to Austin or San Antonio, I plan to finish my medical education (pharmacy, nurse practitioner - haven't decided yet), but I'm concerned that Texas schools have become flooded by immigrants and competitive students to the point where they're "hypercompetitive." Out here in Oregon for example, getting into any nursing program is what getting into medical school was like 20 years ago - it's THAT bad. You more or less need straight As in all your prerequisite courses in order to compete - and book smarts usually don't mean you're going to make a good nurse. In fact, I'd argue the opposite but that's just me. If I go through all the trouble of relocating to Central Texas to be geographically closer to my ailing family (who live in Florida - yes, it's a long flight but considerably shorter than Oregon), am I going to face a "hypercompetitive" school culture (again this would be for medical programs in Texas like pharmacy and/or advanced nursing programs) with long waiting lists, hundreds of applicants for few spots, immigrants, slashed budgets, etc? One of my chief concerns about Austin is that all of the IT workers who are currently losing their jobs will be turning to the health care professions because it's one of the last "frontiers" in employment, and they'll be competing with less entitled, resource-rich, and monied students for coveted spots in programs. Would some of you Texas residents who are familiar with the college and university systems in Central Texas (chiefly Austin and San Antonio) help me put all this into perspective realistically. Is your college/university system overburdened right now, or is it still accessible to the average joe? BTW: I'm not blasting immigrants - I know a lot of Mexican people come north to American for educational advancement and I think that's wonderful. But the migration adds to the bulk of students competing for funding, resources, and college admissions - as does the slew of white, laid-off IT workers switching careers for job security. I love Texas and hope to live there some day but want to make sure there are opportunities for advancement before I decide to relocate.

get your education before you relocate.

So I went to school in San Marcos which is in between Austin and San Antonio. The most awesome thing about central texas is the variety of people that live, work, and go to school here. There are a lot of people that live here from Mexico more so in San Antonio than in Austin. As for the universities they are not filled up with "immigrants" or an excessive amount of white people. They are pretty diversified and so are the kinds of people competing for financial aid. It really depends on the school you pick, if you go with UT you will be in a VERY diversified student body with lots of people competing for financial aid since it is a very large school that a lot of people desire to go to and also very expensive. Texas State is still very diversified, a little laid back compared to UT and is smaller so the qualifications and cost are a little lower making it easier to get into. There are many smaller schools in San Antonio that are reasonably priced with financial aid available but you will see more Hispanics as it is farther south. I will tell you that central Texas is probably best described (at least for me) as Tex-Mex. The influences of both cultures are really easy to see no matter where you are here. As for jobs we have not been hit quite as hard as most places but here recently there have been some lay offs. There are some really competitive nursing programs here and some that are not so competitive. I haven't really seen that workers losing their jobs are turning to health care but I also don't work in health care so I can't be for certain. So I guess in summary you can find all ends of the spectrum as far as college, jobs, and the availability of financial aid. Really you just have to do some research on the particular school that you want to go to. Hope that helps and if you do ever get here Welcome to Texas!

UT San Antonio is a lot easier to get into and a lot less competitive than UT Austin. It's also a lot crappier. I also think Austin is a way cooler city. UT is pretty bad with financial Aid (once again, more likely to get money from San Antonio than Austin) but tuition is not that expensive. I think it's considered one of the best values in the country for being such a great school (UT Austin). Undergrad semester is like 4k. Other schools in Austin that I'm familiar with are ACC and St. Eds. I don't know anything about their nursing programs though. St. Eds is really expensive, though. And UT is not that diversified. It is mostly rich white kids from small towns but the school and professors are awesome. It's not super hypercompetitive once you get it. There's a lot of very lazy students who still graduate. Also, have you considered Houston? It's really really big on hospitals and medicines so it would definitely be easy for you get a job there once you graduate. I think it has a lot of nursing schools too. It's a big city but if you find the right places to go and live, it can be pretty awesome.

This is for Texas Residents and College Students: are your colleges and universities going downhill

This is for Texas Residents and College Students: are your colleges and universities going downhill?
I love Texas and hope to live there some day but want to make sure there are opportunities for advancement before I decide to relocate. You know, it's not misaligned fingerpointing. I'm trying to get information about the schools down there. I love Texans actually (duh) -- I just know that in certain states (California, New York, Massachusetts, maybe Texas) the schools are bursting at seams, and it comes down to people with no money (immmigrants) and students who come from inherited wealth. As someone who worked his way through grad school in the south, you will completely understand me when I write that I don't want to have spend the next 10 years of my life competing to get INTO graduate programs that are hypercompetitive. The economic downturn in this country is making things worse.

As opposed to a page long rant, why not just ask a question and leave it at that? Instead of misaligned finger pointing, why not just keep it short and sweet?

Also the meds I have are 6 years old, are they still okay to take?? The last time I flew I was soooo sick when we were landing, that was 10 years ago and I'm still really nervous about it..Please don't mention Dramamine bc that makes me dizzy too.....Please help, I am going to have to do alot of flying!!

I would definitley get new meds, 6 years old is pretty old for medicine. You may also try taking Ginger (found at any pharmacy)... start taking it now and up to your flight, I've heard it helps. My wife used motion sickness bracelets during morning-sickness, and they helped some as well... They're little bands with a ball on them that apply pressure to your wrist. Good luck!

I need answers from airmen ONLY

I need answers from airmen ONLY!!!?
I just talked to my husband he is at lackland AFB in San Antonio Tx.He just told he he didn't know if he would be able to graduate on time because he failed something on his pt.Have you or anyone you know failed a part of the pt and still graduated on time.I am kinda worried because It would be extremly expensive to book another flight like 300 more dollars.Any advice would be helpful!!! what is chaptered out?

1 :
It sounds like he failed a portion of his physical fitness test and that is cause not to graduate. If he passes his retest he should graduate on time. If not he may be chaptered out for failing to meet physical standards under the trainee discharge program.
2 :
He could ask the DI to re-take the part he failed, he'll prob be allowed only 1 chance to pass with out being recycled, Good Luck. Vet-USAF 44MMS CHAPTER-ED OUT MEANS DISCHARGED
3 :
It is a requirement to pass the physical fitness test in order to graduate. It is possible that if he fails a retest they can wash him back to another flight. But the Air Force doesn't need as many new recruits as the other services, so "chapter out" would mean releasing him from active duty.
4 :
Physical fitness is finally becoming a priority in the USAF. When I went through basic training (1995), I failed the situp portion of the test. I was retested and passed. Some didn't pass the retest and were tested again. I think they all graduated on time. Normally if you at least show improvement between tests, they won't get rid of you. He may be recycled, or sent back one week, if he continues to have problems. If he can't pass the test due to medical reasons, he may get discharged. I knew a guy that had that happen.
5 :
If he failed any part of his PT test he can be set back in training. Meaning he leaves the unit he has been with the whole time and put in with a new unit which is a week, two weeks, three weeks.....behind him. He can also be given another chance to pass his PT test. He usually will only have one chance and will have to redo the whole test and pass the whole test. There is no such thing as just retaking one part and not the other parts along with it. He has to be retested exactly the same way as everyone else was and the same way he was tested the time he failed. The whole point of a PT test is to see if you are in the proper physical condition for the AFand they have the indurance to pass the test the way it is established. For example, if he failed the run he can't just redo the run. He needs to redo the push up's and sit up's that are done just prior to running because you have to be able to do all areas to get the same results. Either your husband is physically fit to pass the whole test or he's not. If he is not and he fails a retest if they allow him to try one more time while still being in his current unit, he will be set back if they believe further training will help him pass at a later date. If her fails a retest and they don't think any additional training will help him get to where he needs to be than they can separate him from boot camp and send him home. If this happens he will not be eligible in the future to enlist in the AF but would probably be allowed to get a waiver to enlist in another branch. The cost of the plane ticket should be the last thing you are worrying about right now. I know it is a lot of money to repurchase another ticket for another time, but if he is separated you will have a different problem to worry about if you really needed him to succeed in the military to help your family. He needs to make sure he knows all his choices when it comes to this PT failure. Good luck Boot camp is boot camp. The rules are the same regardless if it is the AF or any other branch. Lots of none airmen can help you with your questions. Lots of years of experience first hand are here for people like you with questions.
6 :
Just because you are a HOMOSAPIEN doesnt mean you are a CAVEMAN
7 :
He could end up getting RECYCLED back a class or two untill he meets the standards for the PT Test. http://www.airforce.com/training/enlisted/index.php the website might have some answers for you
8 :
He will just get set back a few weeks until he can pass the PT. And just reschedule your flight.
9 :
That is not true that he can not just retest the part he failed. When I was at basic a friend of mine failed her pushups. They gave her one more chance to try and pass, all she had to retest was the pushup portion not the ENTIRE test all over again. She ended up failing again, and got recycled back at the start of our 5th week, but she got recycled back into a flight that was in the 4th week, it only put her back 1 week. The worse you might have to do is pay $50 to change the date on your tickets, you shouldn't have to buy a whole nother ticket. If he ends up getting washed back and recycled to another flight, remember to be supportive, he's under enough stress and probably feels bad so try to tell him that you're still proud of him, and he can do it.

Flying alone for the first time- Scared to death, HELP

Flying alone for the first time- Scared to death, HELP!?

I live in washington and i fly to las vegas then i fly to san antonio texas. . all together a 7 hour journey but a five hour flight. (i have to switch planes in las vegas, but i'll be there alone for 2 hours! ) Okay, so pretty much i need advice. I already hate flying i get really nervous and my stomach starts to hurt and i can't breathe the whole flight and i think i'm gonna crash or something! (don't know why) what should i do to keep my mind off of the flight, and my mind off the negative thoughts? also, what should I do when i'm in las vegas for two hours!? Nice answers, please. -hana(:

just fly yourself, jump out of the aircraft LOL

i do too get that queesy feeling. take an ipod or book and calm yourself by enjoying music. nothing will happen. keep telling yourself that. also communicate with people sitting next to you. try to befriend them so you wont feel so alone. also gum helps me relax or sucking on jolly ranchers?
3 :
Same problem for me. Get travel sickness bands for each wrist, read a book/magazine or listen to your ipod on the flight to take your mind off it. I would go and sit down in a cafe and have something to eat or drink, look around the shops and maybe do a bit of reading or listen to music and just be slightly earlier to you departure lounge if your early.

airport security

airport security?
are the airports such as san antonio and las vegas ones always open? the reason i ask is im considering stayin over night at an airport to save money but am concerned about the security, will just anyone be able to come into the airport after the last flight, or will there be security making sure whos bringin in what at all hours? or do they lock the doors at a certain time?

1 :
You should call the Airport Auth. for each airport and ask them. Find their website and there should be a number you can call to see what hours the airport is open. In alot of cases after the last inbound flt. arrives at an airport the airport will close after the last passengers have left the airport.
2 :
That varies from airport to airport, for the most part. At the vast majority of airports, the concourses close, and access is denied to everyone except those that have proper access (airline employees, airport PD, etc.). If I'm not mistaken, pretty much ALL airports are closed for at least a while, so it's best to sleep on the "public" side of security to avoid being woken up in the middle of your slumber. I know that at Phoenix Sky Harbor, they close for a few hours (late late at night), though I'm not sure about Las Vegas. When I was in Las Vegas, I was on the next to last flight out, so while it was late out, the last flight hadn't actually left yet, so the area was still open (at least to people who had tickets anyway). But after the concourses close, usually security (or the airport PD) will check to make sure nobody's hanging around, and if they are, they usually get escorted out.
3 :
some terminal in the airport closes after the last flight has departed. staying to sleep overnight in an airport is safe. it is watch over by security personnel 24 hours a day 7 days a week. i have tried sleeping in the airport, cold silent a really nice place to sleep.

Are there tricks to getting the cheapest deals on flights a week before flying

Are there tricks to getting the cheapest deals on flights a week before flying?
I'm trying to get a good deal on plane tickets. I was wondering if there were any online tricks to finding discount codes or what not or unique ways of finding cheap flights. I am planing on going to see my fiance in the Air Force on April 15th - April 18th, from Sioux Falls, SD to San Antonio, TX, but I don't have money till April 9th. It will only be $606. I'm noticing how high the prices are getting though. Is it because of Easter coming up or something? I just really need to get the best possible deal on a flight for those days (roundtrip.) If anyone works for an airline company or just has tricks up their sleeves to help me find the best deal on my flight, you have no idea how much you would be helping me out. It would be the most important favor anyone could do for me. I'm going out there to propose to my future wife and I don't know if I'll have enough money to make it out there and pay for taxis and hotel costs with the plane ticket prices rising the way they are.

try Hotwire.com
2 :
The closer you get to the date of the flight, the more the ticket is going to cost. That's true no matter what time of year it is. Easter's not till April 24 this year, so it's not affecting the price of your trip. However, lots of schools have a Spring Break in April, so families go on vacation. Good old supply vs demand dictates that the prices will go up then as well.
3 :
Sorry, but what roofing said. The closer to departure, the more expensive it will be and there are no tricks that will help.
4 :
You never can tell. Sometimes the flights are half empty and they dump tickets for flights a week or so in advance to try to get something for the empty seats. In 2009 I flew round trip to Paris from Houston for a little over $300. I could not get days off from work, so I actually spent two nights and only one full day in Paris- enough to get some photos and souvenirs- but HEY! It was only $311 total! LOL. Log into travel and ticket websites and just click for them to send you bargains to your email. You get a LOT of junk mail this way, but if you take your time and sort through it, you do find diamonds here and there. I already booked my trip to Manila this Spring, but I found a deal from China Air to Manila and back for little over $800- half price for what I paid! LOL. The bargain flights are definitely out there. Seek and you will find- LOL.
5 :
If you book you air tickets through online travel portal, you will surely cut the expenses and it will be money saving move. Some online travel portals offer special offers & discount coupons on the cheap air ticket deal. However, finding the cheapest air ticket is not everybody's cup of tea. I have already booked my air tickets from Globester at very affordable rate with special discount.Hope it helps you..
6 :
Sometimes airlines have what is called a weekend fare special. Delta emails me specials around each Tuesday or Wednesday for travel that weekend. Therefore you have to pretty much make up your mind that you are flying that weekend. However there are not a lot of flights out of Sioux Falls so I would suggest you see what major airport is near where you live such as Minneapolis. Just know that you should have bought your tickets a long time ago as airfare does go up as you get closer to your travel date. You can go to http://www.kayak.com or http://www.orbitz.com and see if you can buy a travel package which includes airfare, car rental and hotel cost. Sometimes you can get a price break when you bundle your purchase.

Ladies, my wife is beautiful, sexy, vibrant, smart, loving, giving, and so afraid and insecure and gone...help

Ladies, my wife is beautiful, sexy, vibrant, smart, loving, giving, and so afraid and insecure and gone...help
No blame game here...simply arrogantly self-stupid observations by a truly hurting me. I deeply love my wife, but her family hurt, and still hurts her so badly that at 50 she has left her third husband, me, (though she says she is coming back) and I know why she is so messed up, but her inner demons won't even allow us to talk about it. We have good insurance and have been in therapy for a while, but she is so charming she fools the therapist (s). I am not perfect. I have problems. I am a good man. I am strong. I have been hurt and alone in the world like so many others. I am a fool who sees the folly in this world too well at times. I have been loyal and fought great, great battles to save my wife's life physically for over 7 years. Now, I now am powerless to solve my wife's one great illness...a fragile soul. She watched her bio father beat her mother for 2 1/2 years. Her mother left her with an emotionally empty and abusive grandmother for four more years. Her mother and step-father treated her well, but never really the same as her half-siblings. She played basketball and was on the dance team in high school, working to pay for the uniforms, camp fees, and the like. When she married too young, her mother disowned her because the boy was black (I know him. Good guy, problems too though like all of us.) After a few years, my wife divorced him after he began cheating because her expectations were so unrealistically high that she cut him off, like her mother "punished her to teach her a lesson." She became sarcastic, demeaning, disrespectful and stopped the cariños (she's a South-Texas Mèxicaña) in and out of the bed. He has gone on to be an attorney and a junior college president. In her early 20's she's back in South Texas at a university studying, living, having 20 something lovers, mostly naval officers in flight school, while avoiding anything close to responsibility to or for others. ( It's ironic, we lived one building away from each other then and went to the same college at the same time) She had lots of girl friends but was so lonely and hurting inside she quit life and her professional job and moved to Austin in her early thirties. Worked as a state auditor, suffered as she partied away, found God, found husband 2, not a nice guy...but not that bad either...resentfulness, irresponsiblity crept in while pretending to herself to be responsible...cuts him off like #1 and he cheats after she leaves him, and she blames him for everything. Divorce. Along comes me, also divorced from my 1st after a 20 year marriage and 3 kids. This time we live two doors and a stairwell away from each other. I offered to and helped her move a sofa to her apartment with another neighbor. I wanted to get to know her, but thought it would be to creepy to knock on her door and ask her out. One year later she knocks at my door with a petition trying to get the drug dealing kids next to her evicted...I sign...give phone #...next day same kids are threatening her...I rushed over and made kids behave respectful as they move out...scared them (I was a soldier and street urchin in the hood back in the day). It's summer, she's a teacher and beautiful. I'm a teacher and thinks she's cute...we play tennis, hike, bike, fall in love...marry a year and half after I convince her I'm decent...I had to show my credit report, back-ground check, hire mariachi's, learn Spanish better to talk to her older relatives, prove I was tamed Tiger...I'm a bolillo (white-boy) who lived and fought in the tough hispanic streets of south and west San Antonio and raised myself alone literally (dad and mom slipped away one at a time) since I was 14, but who got to go to college (GI Bill) anyway. She was afraid I'd leave her and cheat. I fought to get her. And now I'm fighting to keep her and not be # 3. She's at her parents right now because I'm driving her "crazy" because I want to talk about taking care of our future. I'm an English teacher by choice, a romantic by calling, and one lean, mean earning machine with an MBA who has made some damn lucky investments over the years, am only four years away from a full, paid retirement, and live in a state that is paying for me to attend a great law school part-time (being a soldier and staying alive was good to me)... what a great life...problem is the woman I love always runs away from responsibility...yeah, she ran away from Austin after about 8 years too, and every time she ran she financed it with her retirement money. She is 50, has no money, not enough time to actually earn a retirement from teaching like I have, or earn more in a second career like I hope, and I am willing to (and do) finance independent retirement accounts for her, but she is running away from me because she is insecure and afraid that after law school and some young cutie thang will seduce me away. She is unable, and I mean unable to talk about any real issue honestly, no she is not a liar, just supremely avoidant. I'm rambling forgive me. I worked at bringing her family back together, but I did not know they had isoloated everyone in the world due to some great unknown fear that I think comes out of the past (her family suffered greatly during the Mexican Revolution of the early 1900's...great depravity occurred...war really is hell...my wife's family won't answer their front door, answer the phone until after a message is left, and is flat broke because like her they won't think about the now or the future because of whatever ghosts haunt them from the past...they think I'm crazy because I'm not afraid to negotiate with repairmen, tell street thugs to keep their distance, or because I challenge religious frauds. I can not let the world hurt me. I would have died a long time ago. And, I have three children, and I thought a wife, to shepard. And now she has run away from me for the third time...and every time it is the day I must take my children home after a longish vistitation. And, they love her, she loves them, but she can't love too much or she gets so damn afraid she won't answer the telephone of life and slams the door of love. It's driving me insane. Help! Help! Help! How do I live with a woman who can't love too long without resenting getting loved, or won't think about her future, or won't make love to me anymore even though I'm a giving, faithful lover...a woman who has run away from me because she has been running away from herself her entire adulthood to keep the dad who beat her mom out of her mind, to keep the mom who refused to feed her when she asked at 23 yrs old out of her mind as punishment because she married a black man, who ran away from another man and his children because, because, because, she runs away.... I'm empty I survived incredible evil as a child, endured and still suffer the from the evil of war, lived after my three babies were ripped from me by divorce, fought arrogant and ignorant doctors like hell to keep this woman I cherish alive, but..............I can't fight this demon inside her that is tearing me apart and creating a void in my soul that I think will never go away if she stays away like she has the other two husbands and other lovers before me. I never knew agape love before my first daughter was born. In fact I think my first wife left me because I don't think I could love at all back then. Now, I love my lover and best friend like I'll never be able to love again... She tells me I talk too much. She yells for me to "Stop Yelling!!!" when I whisper I love her after trying to explain to her calmly that...Yes, she really does need to know where the natural gas cut-off valve is in this beautiful house of ours. She tells me I'm crazy as she breaks the beautiful things we have collected during our travels. She has left me because "You are driving me crazy!!! It's your sanity or mine. Why do you have to talk about things? Why can't we just love each other like my folks? We don't need to talk!" She lies about herself to the therapists and to herself. I love her. I'm not cheating. I found my soulmate, but the devil found her first. I'm a teacher of English, forgive my lack of brevity, my sloppy style, my non-proofing, Faulkner -esque stream-of-bullsh*t. As she pleads, I'll stop talking. Ladies, please...how do I make her come back and stay with me until we die together like in the books I must read?

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh I read that WHOLE thing and I don't know what to say, but after havign read it all I feel obligated to say something. Sounds like you are smothering her maybe a bit too much, expecting things of her that are important to you, but not her. Take it easy, do as she says and relax. Yeah she should know things like how to turn off the natural gas, but really, how many women know how to do that and strive to actually learn things like that? So once you get her back actually stop all the talking and maybe start listening to her. Stop sweating the small stuff. You guys are in your 50's you say? A little late in the game for her to make any real lifestyle changes about the way she thinks so your ONLY option is to cater to her way of thinking....that is if you want to keep her. She sounds very stubborn but like I said, you're not going to change her, you can only meet her at least halfway which is all that is expected in any relationship. Good luck to you Sir.

I do feel for you, For one thing life isnt a "Fairy Tale", and two, Relationships arent ever, ever perfect..you are her third husband from what I understand....She wasnt over her first, or her second to begin w/, nor did she "Have a self"..In order to have a relationship w/ anyone you need to "Have self worth"..There also needs to be Communication...Key Word to any relationship..I have this friend..She was in a relationship/Married to her second husband for goin on twelve years, together w/ him for thirteen..They were together through thick and thin,..then a tragedy happened..They bought their first real home..she was pregnant five and a half mos w/ their second Son, He worked two jobs, He worked his ass off for his family through all of the marriage, until they were both faced that he had to have a spinal fusion(back surgery) done..one month after their true first home loan closed..It was the start of a "Total Devastation" that would be the fallout of their thirteen year relationship almost five years later..Hes now hopped up on pills for pain that might be, or might not be there. He also went into deep depression when he had to have another spinal fusion a year later from another disc blowing, and having his motherinlaw move in, and help w/ the children...She bore his third son in May of 07, almost lost her life to Eclampsia a week after giving birth to him..almost lost their sons life during her labor..the whole entire time of about three years, and more he cheated on her via internet, in a virtual reality world, and who knows how many physically now..He made a deal w/ her..saying that they could have a "Internet business" together..promised her "The World" w/ him again and she "Fell for it" again for the God knows how many times..shes stayed w/ him through thick and thin..Hoping/ Gambling that he would "Straighten up" so they could be together "For Life" and maybe " Like A Fairy Tale"..She knew that would not be "chalked up " to its "Meaning" for Life is "never a fairy tale"..."Life is never perfect"..Life should be full of happiness, through the good, bad, and the ugly times..and full of meaningness, for if it has no "meaningness" then what is there of life in itself"??, Emptiness and Lonliness is what it becomes..Thats when "Cheating", "Defensiveness" , "Abuse "whether its Verbally, mental, physical, and spiritual..happens..and that becomes the downfall of devestation..to the relationship..He lied over and over to her..keeping secrets..hidden bank accounts in his name, had a deal w/ his parents whom didnt like her in the first place since them getting together..stealing money from his family, not taking the responsibilities that lie w/ his family, via getting a job, much less goin out to support..She became pregnant again and then miscarried..To both of them that pregnancy was a shock!! He just "Supported" himself..what he wanted..and when he wanted he was nice and loving to her..But if she couldnt "provide" Material items for him..then he would find them from another" till he got them.."lost in a Nutshell' He took off on the family and screwed a married girl w/ a family of her own..Its both their faults..as I would put it..He had totally given up on his family of three boys and a wife for all this..other s*** that made himself feel like he "had a purpose" in life when it shouldve been his family...Them two are now goin through a divorce w/ him taking everything materialistic..and not seeing his boys..for twenty five days at a time..So, to tell you the main moral of the "Devestating fairy tale:" There are and is worse out there..to tell and hear..about..you tc/ and hopefully you and her can find that common denomiator..again..;)
