Which airline is better: Northwest or Continental

Which airline is better: Northwest or Continental?
I'm flying from D.C. to San Antonio. The prices are almost the same so I was wondering about leg room, in-flight entertainment, etc. (I tried going to both of their websites which didn't help much.)

Continental
2 :
they're the same nothing special
3 :
Northwest is the best when it comes to entertainment and leg room. They are very high class when it comes to that. Continental is good also, but there tickets are a little cheaper than Northwest.
4 :
NorthWest
5 :
Customer service-wise, GO WITH CONTINENTAL! :)
6 :
I would say they're probably about the same, as far as customer service and legroom and in-flight entertainment. (They probably don't offer much or any). But they're still probably the two best domestic airlines in my experience. I would go with whichever airline has the more convenient flight times or connections. If it's worth anything, Northwest has better hub airports - Memphis, Detroit, and Minneapolis. Two of Continental's hub airports are pretty bad, Newark and Houston (not THAT bad but not the best either).
7 :
Northwest...
8 :
I have flown on both airlines and I would say I think Continental is the better of the two. You will probably get a free meal with Continental. On Northwest, you would get the chance to buy something on board or get nothing at all. Leg room is about the same, but I still prefer flying with Continental.

Made a reservation by linking 2 seperate flights, short layover, what do i do with my bags

Made a reservation by linking 2 seperate flights, short layover, what do i do with my bags??
I'm flying from San Antonio to Cleveland next month, and it was cheaper to make one reservation from SAT to Chicago, where I would be changing planes, and another from Chi to CLE. My layover is only 55 minutes, how can i get my checked bags all the way through? I'm on Southwest for both flights
Air Travel - 8 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
they will take care of bags for you unless it is a carry on
2 :
I have flown many times with a layover of less than 55 minutes, and have had no problem with my checked baggage making it to my destination. I don't think you should have any problem.
3 :
Ask the checkin clerk to have your bags checked through.
4 :
When you check in at the airport in San Antonio, tell them that you are flying with them all the way to Cleveland, and you'd like for your bags to be checked straight through. They should be able to do that for you, so that you don't have to pick up your bags and re-check them yourself. Good thing you were flying on the same airline for both flights!!!!!!!!
5 :
As long as you let them know when you check your bags in at the Southwest counter that you are connecting to another Southwest flight to CLE, they will move the bags for you. If you are making separate reservations, make sure to TELL them about your plans WHEN you GIVE them your bags. Your second reservation might not appear in their system in San Antonio! If you TELL them, they will definitely check them through for you though. Have fun!
6 :
I'm not entirely sure how Southwest works as I work for another airline, however, you should be able to show both itinerary's at the ticket counter and have them book your luggage through to the final destination. Otherwise, the 2 Carry-on's that TSA and the Airlines allow you work great, just leave room in one for your purse as they've been getting stricter on this rule lately.
7 :
Just make sure to tell a Southwest agent when you check in for your first flight. Give them the details of your second flight, and they'll check it all the way through.
8 :
I worked for another airline and all you have to do is show a copy of the itinerary to the ticket agent at check in and they can check your bags through if that is their policy. Be careful booking seperate segments like that. NEVER book 2 airlines especially if Southwest is one of them. They do not have a ticketing or baggage agreement with any airline and will not transfer bags to another airline. 55 minutes is a good connection time, but not enough time to claim and recheck your bags. You should ALWAYS find the airlines policy before booking like this. Two seperate tickets are not a good combo. If one plane is delayed and you miss your connection, you will not come up on the connection list for back up protection and you would potentially lose your reservation. Utilize their online check in for both flights just in case. But if any delay's occur, inform the gate agent of your connection and they could possibly have you backed up on the next flight ahead of time. Again, it all hinders on their policy. Each airline is different. If you book seperate segments like this it is advisable to carry on if you can. This way you wont have to worry about your bags misconnecting. If the agent does check your bags through, physically look at the bag tag once they put it on your bag. Make sure it says Final Destination CLE and not MDW (Midway). But again, the only way to have the bags checked through if they allow it is to physically show the itinerary and receipt to the ticket agent at check in.

Best city for Texas vacation

Best city for Texas vacation?
My boyfriend and I are considering taking a 4-5 day vacation somewhere this August. At first we were thinking San Diego or maybe even Las Vegas. I did see a relatively cheap flight from the New York area to San Antonion, TX though and thought that might be fun as well. Does anyone have any recommendations on which city in Texas is the best to visit (i.e. San Antonio, Dallas, Houston)? Also, if I did decide to go to San Antonion, what are the best attractions to visit? Thanks for your help and recommendations!

go wherever is cheapest b/c those cities are all great. there are quite a few sites that you can search that will likely give you the best prices available. just go here: http://cheapest-travel-ever.info/rr76 and you will be able to compare prices on all the reputable travel sites in just a couple minutes. it's very convenient and will save you a bunch of time and money. Also, make sure you buy them online... otherwise they charge much higher fees for phone orders. good luck.

Anyone fly American Airlines on an MD-80

Anyone fly American Airlines on an MD-80?
Any thing special about the flight. 3 hour flight from O'hare to San Antonio no negative comments please. yea some guy said your planes gonna crash. "negative comments"
Air Travel - 3 Answers

Nothing special. There are no televisions or any type of entertainment, unless you bring your own. Buy on board food will be served. That is pretty much the whole thing. Flown on AA's MD-80's several times without any special service, but at least I made it to my destination without any problems.
2 :
no negative comments? umm....ahead of row 30 or so, you don't have a view of an engine out the window
3 :
When on any MD-80 or DC-9 series aircraft, don't get a seat in the rear if you can avoid it. The airline doesn't matter. The engines are back there and they're right next to the fuselage. If you're not deaf when you board, you will be when you deplane.

Are all flights expensive around the holidays

Are all flights expensive around the holidays?
So im going to San Antonio for military duty late in Nov and I want to fly my girlfriend down to see me while i'm there. Money was tight so I was waiting until pay day to buy tickets. They went from being 280 bucks 3 days before thanksgiving to now being 480. She wont be coming down until december, Should I buy now? Will they get higher or lower after turkey day. I dont have much experience with this sort of thing.

usually yes, it depends where your going
2 :
Most of flights expensive and will be more expensive as Christmas Coming
3 :
Matt you better learn real quick that airline tickets get more expensive around holidays. Next don't buy into the crap about a military discount. You can do better on the internet or a consolidator. When you are done in Basic training you better go to the AMC terminal and learn about space A flights. It saves a lot of money.
4 :
I would buy tickets now as the ticket prices are only going to be getting higher in price. If you want to buy tickets for holiday travel in the future, buy them much earlier.

Fly or drive from San Jose to Manuel Antonio

Fly or drive from San Jose to Manuel Antonio?
I'm traveling in mid-May and flights seem to be a little scarce I'm guessing since it's the green season so I only have one flight to make it to my hotel that afternoon but I could probably make it at the same time by driving as well. Do the regional flights ever get delayed or canceled altogether because of rain? Should I just drive instead? Well my flight doesn't arrive in SJO until noon so that only leaves one flight out to Quepos for us on Sansa at 3pm which technically I could drive and get there at the same time. So just debating which is the lesser evil :)

1 :
I have not flown, but did drive.... people I know who flew said it was a quick flight over jungle, and interesting sightseeing The drive was a multi-hour ordeal, even in a four-wheel drive. Do-able, as long as you have good nerves. I think the best part was the bridge we went over with a sign that said "no se bane" and a picture of a crocodile....sure enough, down on the mud flats, there they were lounging around, maybe waiting for a sceptical tourist for dinner
2 :
By fly to MA, you mean Quepos, right? There is no landing strip in MA. The flight is about 1/2 an hour. It's bumpy but pretty fun. There are rarely delays due to rain. They will fly through it unless it gets really nasty, but it rarely does. It's usually a light to medium rain. Which flights are scarce? To CR or within CR? Nature Air has 2 flights SJ-Quepos daily, 9am and 11am. If you book now, you can get fares as low as $35 each way (plus tax). www.natureair.com Sansa has 5 flights daily to Quepos, starting at 7am until 3pm. They charge $50 each way. www.flysansa.com Driving is not horrendous any more with the new highway, much quicker than before. It will take you about 3+/- hours, if you take the new highway (which sometimes closes for days at a time if there's a lot of rain and there's landslides). Another option would be to spend the first night in San Jose and take off early the next morning. The rain doesn't start till mid-day. The mornings are usually nice. No issues driving or flying. --EDIT-- I would fly. But not till the next morning, personally. But unlike most, I like San Jose. I am not scared, disgusted, or grossed out by it. I know a few places to go have fun so it works for me. If you're getting in at noon, you might as well drive since you'll wait 2+ hours for Sansa anyway. The whole point of flying (for me) is to save time, but if you are gonna wait 2 hours, you might as well get on the road. Stop at a roadside place to eat, some great little places. BUT LOCK THE CAR AND DON'T LEAVE ANYTHING VALUEABLE IN PLAIN SIGHT (EVEN IF ONLY GOING IN FOR A MINUTE).
3 :
in may we have rainy season so is not a good idea to take a flight, though it takes like 30 minutes from SJ to MA,i recommend you to drive so you can see the country, its tired to drive all the way down to MA but its worth it. you also need experience on bumpy roads and you can't trust the GPS all the time
4 :
I'd suggest the drive. Its not everyday that you are in Costa Rica so why not enjoy the scenery and company you are with? Think....ROAD TRIP! Pura vida.
5 :
Manuel Antonio may be Costa Rica’s best-known tourist destination, but it is also about three and a half hours away by car from the international airport in San Jose. There are several choices for getting from one point to the other, and regardless of what method you prefer, you are sure to enjoy a unique travel experience. There is no doubt that Manuel Antonio is a great vacation spot that offers an impressive variety of activities for people of all ages and inclinations. With careful planning, you can solve many problems and truly enjoy your visit. For the most part, you’ll avoid the crowds if you plan your trip from April through November, rather than during the peak months. If that isn’t possible, at least remember that families and young people from San Jose flock to the beach on weekends. By air Since it only involves a 20-minute flight that leaves frequently from the airport, this is the quickest way to reach San Antonio. It is also the favorite method of travel for high-end tourists who plan on staying at the resort’s four-star hotels and visiting its luxurious spas. Some travelers tend to become anxious since the planes are quite small, and the amount of luggage they can store may also be limited. Those who choose this option will land in Quepos, which is serviced by Grupo Taca and Sansa Airlines, and go onto Manuel Antonio by cab from there. By Bus Any visitor who has a strong desire to experience the country’s culture will find that taking the bus is the best choice for them. The fares are very reasonable, and the express bus, which leaves from the Coca Cola terminal, will also get you there in three and a half hours. You won’t need a reservation, the bus leaves three times daily, and you will enjoy the both ride and the scenery. By Car If you are the adventuresome type and like to set out on your own, you should probably rent a car in San Jose. As a rule, driving in Costa Rica is not a problem, but you will notice at once that the roads aren’t as clearly marked as they are in the United States and other countries. Because the road to Quepos is bumpy and wildlife from the rainforest crosses the road, you will want a car with four-wheel drive. The ride is very picturesque, and you can visit rainforest “lookouts” and small restaurants along the way. Leaving the airport and getting on to Highway1 can be tricky. Once you do, you will be heading west and exit at the sign that reads “to Alajuela.” First, you will looping back toward the airport, and when the road splits, take the exit for San Ramon, which is on the left. Leave Highway 1 at the Atenas sign, continue until you reach Orotina and exit when you get to the Jaco sign. (There will be no more turns until you arrive in Manuel Antonio.) By Private Transportation While this may be the most expensive way to travel in Costa Rica, it will also give you peace of mind because you won’t be concerned about getting directions, damaging the car, road conditions, or break-ins, as you will if you rent a car. While the cars might not be too fancy, this is essentially the equivalent to a limo or chauffeur service.

Connection time in CDG Airport in France

Connection time in CDG Airport in France?
Saturday July 14th, I am going from Nurnberg, Germany to CDG Airport to Houston Intercontiental Airport. My layover in France is 1 hour and 10 minutes before my next flight to Houston. Will I have time? I arrive at Terminal 2D and I depart at 2E. And the flight to houston is the last one of the day, thought my ultimate destination is San Antonio, Texas.

I've been to CDG once, and I don't remember it being overwhelmingly large. So, you should be ok with your layover time, as long as your first flight isn't delayed in any way. By the way, welcome to Texas! Enjoy your stay.
2 :
Not to worry! Firts, plenty of time with 70 minutes to cross the street (see maps below) Second, CO (I guess, as you will cnx at IAH) will NOT leave you, if you bought the ticket as one (Nuremberg/CDG/IAH/San Antonio) see: http://www.aeroportsdeparis.fr/Adp/en-GB/Passagers/Arrivees/PlansGuidesPratiques/ If you want to enjoy the best "sea-food salad" ever, go to "Salmon House"
3 :
Yes. You'll check your bags all the way through and when you get to CDG, you just have to get yourself to the gate. In Nurenberg, check your seat for the transatlantic because if there's something you don't like, you wont have time to change it in CDG. They could, reissue you a boarding pass though, there. As long as you're not changing terminals, and there is no delay, you should be fine. Don't drag your feet. Head straight there as soon as you can since there's a chance they'll already start boarding, or will be starting as soon as you get there. It's tight but do-able. Just don't plan on doing any shopping or getting anything to eat in CDG ;) Have a good flight!

Ok so i am 13 I traveled before but always as an unaccompanied minor, but this time i am flying on southwest and they consider 13 yr olds as adults. I am going from New Orleans to San Antonio, but will have to change flights in Dallas and wait there 1 hour. I'm kinda scared, any tips?? Thx!

First you need to relax it will be ok. I have had to travel by myself before when I was younger too. Tips: ~Bring snacks/food for the wait and the fights ( u will get hungry and the food in the airports isn't the cheapest or the best). ~An hour seems like a long time to wait but once u get off the first airplane go STRAIGHT to the next gate because there may be a change in gate or delay. The airplane usually start to port 20 min before take off, so keep your eye on the clock. ~Take an ipod, game, book, or something to do for the flight time, you will get bord and will need something to keep you entertained. Don't worry you will be fine. Best of luck!
2 :
Hey don't worry. The very first time I flew I was on my own and I was scared too. But airports have signs all over the place. Just follow them. And if you get lost just ask someone who looks like they work there, they should be able to help. But its so easy these days. Like I said follow the signs, they usually hang down from the ceiling so just look out for them. You should be fine. And hey, you say you have an hour to wait, so plenty of time for you to get to the right gate. Have a safe trip!

Flying on a plane by myself for the first time?
I have been flying ALOT and the flying itself doesn't bother me but I have never gone alone before, and I'm worried that I'll get lost or forget how to do what I'm suppose to do to get on the flight. I know what I can and cant bring and the rules because I have been flying countless times, but any tips on flying by yourself? I'm kinda freaked out by the thought of what I might do wrong.

What do I need for a cross-country flight

What do I need for a cross-country flight?
Okay, so I booked my ticket for Minneapolis, MN, coming from San Antonio, TX. So, I need to know what to bring, and their regulations for carry on luggage. -Will I need my passport since it's still within the country? -What is my boarding pass? Is that my ticket to get in, or will I get it when I arrive, or what? -Anything else I may need to bring? -Plus it says they allow 22"x14"x9" for carry on, but next to it says 1/Passenger, so even if I have 2 objects that are within those limits, I can only take one on board with me? What if one's a backpack? Briefcase? -What do I do when I transfer planes?

You don't even need your ticket it's all electronic...right? Yes you can bring both bags. When you transfer what do you do? What kind of question is that? Just follow the signs. You only need a photo Id like a drivers license or a passport.
2 :
You need your ticket dont listen to her you wont be able to get on your plane lol. You dont need your passport but some people use that as ID but if you have a drivers liscense from id then dont bring your passport. Your boarding pass is your ticket, you have to go to the terminal that it says your flight is and give it to them as you walk in. You should bring like a portable dvd player or books because flights are really boring. If you just have a small suitcase and a backpack they will not give you a problem to get one the plane. When you transfer planes there is usually a time period so you can just go get food and sit and relax by your terminal but don't fall asleep and miss your flight:]. Have fun on your trip. Hope this helped.

i'll answer the things i know.... -you dont necessarily need your passport just a government approved id which could be a passport or a driver's license -boarding pass is like your ticket like if you bought your tickets online you'll have what's called an iterinary and when you check in at the airport counter you show this and they give you your boarding pass or some airline now offer you to get boarding passes online before you leave your house so all you have to do at the airport is check your luggage in -from what i know for carry on luggages it's 1 bag and 1 personal item so i think backpack/briefcase is alright -there's a 3-1-1 rule for liquids which is all liquids must be in 3 ounce or smaller container, and all containers must be packed in a single 1 quart ziptop clear plastic bag and each passenger is allowed only one ziplock bag -no sharp/harmful objects in carry on if you want more info you can checkout the tsa website

How do you land a plane on flight simulator 2

How do you land a plane on flight simulator 2?
I am flying the Boeing plane and mainly the 777 or 737 I fly short routes like San Antonio to Dallas or Dallas to Oklahoma City. But I want to go from Oklahoma City to Albuquerque then Albuquerque to LAX the LAx to Honolulu and then continue around the world. I have got the take off good I usually fly at low altitudes. What happens is all of a sudden the landing strip appears in front of me on I am to the right or left and to high when the GPS tells me I have usually 3 miles or so to go. So if you play this what is the secret to a good landing. I just need to know how to land.

the best way to land is to get a decent altitude, but not too high above the strip, then begin a descent, while descending (make sure it is at a small angle, but not too small as you will take forever, and not too steep as passengers might die or not enough time to pull out landing gear) pull out landing gear, make sure to use the brakes while slowly landing on the strip at a decent angle. i dont play these games cuz they bore me... but this is generally the best idea.

Can you help me with flight preparations

Can you help me with flight preparations?
As impossible as it seems, I've reached middle age without ever being on an airplane! Now, I'm flying from Pensacola to San Antonio with a stopover and plane change in Dallas. I need to know what to expect - what to do and not to do. My children have flown numerous times, but they say it's no big deal and I'm worrying for no reason. Probably true, but if someone has time, I'd really appreciate a step-by-step tutorial. Thanks in advance for no nasty comments about my lack of knowledge, please. And thanks for your help! You guys are all so great and these are wonderful answers. Thanks so much to each of you!

Your itenerary should have a gate you need to go to in Dallas. Once you get off the plane in Dallas, give yourself at least an hour to get to your next gate so you don't miss your plane. I had to ask once I got to my first lay over. The people in the airport are normally very friendly there.
2 :
when you are landing chew gum or yawn your ears do not hurt as much! personaly airplane food is garbage from the airport cafetiria or food chains you can take the food on the plane try to sleep
3 :
You will want to arrive at least an hour before you plane leaves. You will get there go to the counter and they will take your large luggage tag it and send it away. If you have carry on luggage you will have to walk through a metal detector and put that on a conveyor belt. After that you find the gate where your plane is taking off from and go wait there. On your connecting flight you just need to head to the gate your next flight will be taking off from. When you arrive at your final destination you will go get your luggage from the conveyor and head to the exit. It's really that simple and you shouldn't be nervous it is a lot of fun. My first plane ride was this year. My wife and I went on our honeymoon to the Dominican Republic. Since then I have traveled to Taiwan (what a trip) and Kentucky by plane with no problems. You gotta love First Class!
4 :
There are many things that can help you for packing for your flight. Don't forget to bring a bag on the plane with you. Most airlines only let you bring ONE with you. You should definitely take some sleeping pills or something like NyQuil to help you sleep on the plane--especially if the flight is long. Bring some extra food with you like dry foods for the trip because the plane food isn't always very good. Make sure that you remember to bring some hand sanitizer too as planes and the bathrooms are some of the dirtiest places and you will be on that flight for a long time. If you don't have hand sanitizer just wash your hands a lot on the plane and turn the faucet off with a paper towel. Bring some books to read in your carry-on bag (the bag you take on the plane with you) or something else to keep you occupied. I hope this helps and have a great time! Relax. Enjoy.
5 :
Hello, the flights you're taking will not be long so they will be good training for you. The first one will last about 2 - 3 hours. When you arrive at the airport, check in at the airline counter to get your boarding pass and check in your luggage. You are allowed to carry on one small piece of luggage (about the size of a bowling bag and not too heavy) and your handbag. The small piece of luggage has to fit under the seat in front of you or in the overhead compartment. After checking in, you go in to the secured area through a metal-detecting door. You'll have to put your small piece of luggage and hand bag on a conveyor belt to be screened by an xray machine. Make sure you don't have too many liquids and not more than 100ml. No knives, guns, flammable liquids, lighters, matches, etc. The airline's website can give you a list of dangerous substances and objects. You might have to take off your shoes, belt, watch and cell phone for everything to go through the x-ray as well. Once you've passed the security check and reassembled yourself, you can go to your departure gate to wait for boarding. The boarding announcement will be made and passengers allowed on the plane in the order of the seats, from the rear of the plane first and then forward. Once you're on the plane, find your seat and stow your carry ons. It's best to have your hand bag under the seat in front of you in case you need a pen or gum or something during the flight. Get comfortable. Buckle your seat belt. Enjoy the flight. At the Dallas airport, after you get off the plane, if you're changing to another plane, check for your departure gate. There should be TV monitors along the hallway (in Dallas, they're up close to the ceiling, rather than on the wall) to find out what gate you're departing from. Good luck! Imagine, once you've got this down pat, you can travel to more places! Paris, Puerto Rico, Bangkok...as they say, the sky's the limit!
6 :
Ok. Here's an 11 step breakdown...don't worry though. It's very easy and there are lots of airport staff to help you if you get muddled. 1 - You need to know the times of your flight, and the terminal number your flight is leaving from first of all. These will be written on the ticket you have. 2 - You will then need to either go online (if available with your flight) and print out a boarding pass. If your flight doesn't do this, you can do it at the airport. If you have luggage to stow you will need to check in at the airport too. 3 - You need to check what size/weight of hand luggage you can take and what is allowed. Most flights do not allow over 100ml of fluid and you need to put toiletries in a see through plastic bag. Pharmacies and supermarkets now sell 'airline' toiletries (i.e. shampoo and deodorant in small sizes fro flights). This information will be on the website of the plane company or the airport. 4 - You need to check how long before the flight you need to be at the gate for your flight. It's usually about an hour before. This information will be on the website of the plane company. You should plan your journey so you get to the airport about 1.5-2 hours before the flight (seriously!). 5 - On the day of the flight, you're all packed so make sure you set off in good time. When you get to the airport, go into the main entrance of the terminal and look up at the computer screens that read DEPARTURES. You then need to check your destination/flight number (on your ticket) with the gate number. 6 - If you didn't check in online (for instance if you have luggage to stow), you need to find the check in desks. Wander along them until you see ones marked with your airline - and then ones marked with your destination. Get in the queue, with your passport and ticket ready to show the person at the desk. They will ask you questions about your luggage and then take it from you to go onto the plane. You will also be given a boarding pass. 7 - Go towards the gate your flight leaves from - eventually you will have to go through a security gate to get 'airside'. Get in the queue, obeying the signs or people there to help you. You may need to take off shoes/belts/earrings and place them, along with your luggage and phone/wallet onto a conveyer belt to be scanned. Walk through the gate scanner yourself and pick up your belongings (unless they ask to have a closer look at them - in which case, they will help you open your case up). 8 - Now you are 'airside' and with plenty of time for your flight. Go and have a look at the duty free goods or airport shops, or head straight for your gate number and take a seat until you hear your flight called. Most flights start to board between 20-40 minutes before take off (it can take a long time!) 9 - When the flight is called, have your boarding pass and passport ready (you will have got this offline and printed it or been given it when you checked in your luggage), hand it to the flight crew before going down the tunnel onto the plane and taking your seat (stowing your hand luggage in the containers above your head). Enjoy the flight! 10 - When you get to your stopover, the air carriers (assuming it's the same company) will move your luggage for you. If not you need to ollow signs to LUGGAGE COLLECTION and stand by the large carousel with your flight number on it. You then need to repeat steps 1-9. If it's the same carrier (which it probably is), all you have to do is look for the departure screens again and find your gate. You will already be 'airside' so don't need to do the checks again. 11 - When you get to your final destination, if you checked luggage - follow signs to LUGGAGE COLLECTION and stand by the large carousel with your flight number on it. Your luggage may take 30 minutes to come off the plane. If not, follow signs to the exit and enjoy your stay. Hope this helps!

Do you fly or ride a bus to basic training from Dallas

Do you fly or ride a bus to basic training from Dallas?
I'm leaving from dallas meps to go to san antonio for af bmt, and I was wondering how we get there, because I'm not sure if I need to pack travel-size liquids for a flight or if regular size bottles are okay. Last I heard, we take a bus, but I just wanted to make sure...

Bus!

You will most likely travel by ground. The only reason why you would fly is if it was a ways away. but in the same state. bus if there are a lot of you. car with your recruiter if its just you.

Traveling to Texas Flight Information

Traveling to Texas Flight Information?
I live in Canada and I am traveling to Mexico around the 28th of December 2008, but my dates are flexible. I am going to fly to San Antonio, Texas first and then drive to my destination. I am not going to a resort, I am going to be visiting friends. I was wondering if I should be buying my ticket now in order to get the best price, or should I wait? Thank you so much for your time and any help you can give me! I have been watching the prices for over a month now, and they are not changing that much. I have come up with a good price point though by watching!
Air Travel - 3 Answers

I would buy it soon if not now. Keep an eye on the prices for about a week so that you know what to consider a "good price". You can also use sites like www.farecast.com to see if the price is supposed to go up or down (take that with a grain of salt though).
2 :
Try booking now, the flights will slowly become more full, and the price of a seat can fly up. The cheapest I got was $641 one way on Air Canada from YYZ. I got a cheaper flight on US AIRWAYS from YYZ to SAT with one stop in Charlotte,NC. The price was $368 one way. American Airlines has a $337 fare one way, with one stop in Chicago. PLEASE EMAIL ME WITH THE EXACT DATES so I may find you the cheapest flight.
3 :
From my own experience, I would buy ASAP so that the flight would not increase closer to the date of travel. Around the holidays it can cost you a "pretty penny". Also, you would not want to be stuck paying the most just to get that last seat on the plane. It's great that you have been watching prices for over a month, now you know what you are willing to spend and what you are willing to let go. Don't regret getting the ticket last minute paying $100+! Best wishes and safe travels for you :-)

Has anyone flown with Express Jet

Has anyone flown with Express Jet ?
Express Jet is a new airline that provides direct flights to cities such as San Antonio Tx., Ontario California and others. I was looking at their web site and noticed the plane itself is a smaller plane, they seat 50 people max. Just wanted to see if anyone has used them and what was their experience.

Express Jet isn't a new airline - they have been flying for many years and operate flights under other airlines names, for example Continental Express, Delta Express etc. I have flown with them and the aircraft seem small - but when you get on board they are pretty nice. They are easy to get on and off of too because they only hold about 50 people. I haven't had a bad experience yet with them!

Why are people from Texas and Colorado such Racists

Why are people from Texas and Colorado such Racists?
if both are Mexican states? a white couple would not sit next to us on the plane, and kept standing the whole flight When our family arrived in San Antonio, baggage clearence asked my dad if my sister were being kidnapped, and detained us for an hour Your thoughts? Yes, I also have been there I've been to Idaho too

Neither Texas nor Colorado are racist states, thank you very much. Have you ever actually been to Colorado?
2 :
Methinks you are trolling.... And where did you get the idea that Texas and Colorado are part of Mexico? They are in the USA.
3 :
having lived in philly, san antonio, corpus christi, dallas, salt lake city utah, and been to most other states - if you think tx and co are racist do not go to philly and idaho ! they are much more racist.
4 :
I'm from the Woodlands, Texas (near Houston) and I am definitely not racist..... Been to Colorado too, and didn't really notice any racism, and I was with my cousins who are half Mexican... Just because a few people are racist bigots doesn't mean the whole state they live in is too.
5 :
Troll, they won't let you stand the entire flight even if you wanted to.
6 :
H-TOWN! And while I'm sure some texans are racist, that's a pretty big generalization. Sorry for your troubles.
7 :
that's what i have heard about Texas but i am not sure to believe I'll have to see for my self about that but the story was funny though..omg really, and about Colorado i don't know much about it i would love to go there though.
8 :
My thoughts? You lie. they would not have been allowed to stand on the plane. You are trolling. They are american states, and EVERY state has a number of latin and hispanic people in it. I really like how you generalize about two states because of what, 5-6 people total? Wow - are you going to be in for a surprise about life in general if that's how you choose to make decisions. Move to Montana.
9 :
Sounds like you went to the Twilight Zone. I've been to both states never had anything like that happen.

none, to me, all american cities r basically the same, the same fast food restaurants, the same type of people, nothing really different. i would much rather travel out of the country

Well, I'd have to buy a couple more tickets but I'd take my husband and my boys to San Antonio. I hear it's pretty country and there's lots to do and see.
3 :
I would definitely pick New Orleans. New Orleans has so much culture, from the jazz to the incredible southern and French cuisine. But I'd only want to visit the French Quarter for now, because the rest of New Orleans is still rebuilding and some parts are dangerous to go to.
4 :
New Orleans. There's alot of good culture there and I'm sure that there is a lot that can still be done to help Katrina victims.
5 :
San Antonio
6 :
New Orleans, i think it would be great to support a city that has been through so much.
7 :
New Orleans-Jazz and food-yeah
8 :
San Antonio. I've never been to Texas.
9 :
Too bad you didn't put San Francisco. Oh well I guess San Antonio soudns nice.
10 :
I'd pick Houston, because I'd like to visit the space center....

tips for traveling from overseas with pet dog?
we will be coming from south korea to san fransico and from there to san antonio im just wondering when can i give my dog food and water on this almost 17hr flight if I cant even take her out? If you have done such a flight with your dog please give me some tips? Also can she have a toy in the sherpa bag with her? THANKS

You cannot take them out...you have to put them down below in a luggage compartment of sorts. Talk to the airlines ask them what their guidelines and rules are. Good luck.
2 :
Are you taking KAL? They have some tips. No food or water after two hours before flight time, and the dog has to stay in the sherpa bag. They don't want it peeing or pooping in the bag. That does seem awfully long without water. I would stick some pee pads in the bag, and give him some ice cubes during the flight, so he doesn't dehydrate. http://www.koreanair.com/local/na/gd/eng/cs/sn/eng_cs_sn_pt.htm

Smartertravel.com expedia.com cheaptickets.com but the cheapest airline would probably be American Airlines or Frontier.
2 :
try http://dirt-cheap-airfares.awardspace.com sign up for good deals
3 :
try "VR3 Travel" http://www.ytbtravel.com/vr3travel You will save a lot of money (from $300 to $400) if you fly into Kansas City or St. Louis. Yes it is anywhere from 2 to 3 hours to Springfield. You can always rent a car or ask someone to pick you up. Since Springfield is not a major airport, the price is going to be more. You could also fly into St. Louis then take the Greyhound bus from the airport to Springfield. It will be about $60 one way. You have to buy your bus ticket in advance online. They do not sell bus tickets at the airport. You could always take the Greyhound bus from San Antionio to Springfield, MO. If you don't mind the 800 mile trip and countless stops in between it will run you about $250 round trip. http://www.greyhound.com
4 :
You can go to the travel websites but then I would go to the airline's website and check out the price because sometimes the airline has special deals the travel websites don't have.

Do you live anywhere near the flight path of an airport or major military base?
We live in San Antonio, which still has 5 active military bases (used to have 7) and man, when those C-5's (cargo planes) fly over the house (they fly slow and low), you'd think the windows were going to rattle out of the casings.......funny thing is, I can sleep through it without waking up! lol

I have been trying to get one so I can leave at 6pm but seems to me that the latest you leave....the more expensive it is:(...and also how do i get the ticket? thanks(i know im so ignorant, but i'd rather be called ignorant than not having the flight ticket..:(

You go to whatever website you want to order the ticket from(try Southwest Airlines, they can be really cheap), choose what you want and follow the steps on the screen. You'll need a credit card or maybe PayPal to buy. Once you've finished it all, you usually get an email with your "e-ticket" in it. You print that out and take it to the airport with you. You show them that and your picture ID, and they take it from there. Remember that the name on your ticket has to match that on your ID exactly. If your ID says John Q. Smith, order the ticket in that name. You almost don't even need the e-ticket these days because the airline can find all your info once you present your ID, but I always take a copy with me just in case. Read all th fine print on the website since you're new to this.

Okay, now how to find a cheap airline ticket online? Shop around, and search & compare all major travel sites for the best deal. Use flexible dates and alternative airports if your trip is flexible. there are quite a few sites that you can search that will likely give you the best prices available. check out the website BookMe and you will be able to compare prices on all the reputable travel sites in just a couple minutes. it's very convenient and will save you a bunch of time and money. Also, make sure you buy them online... otherwise they charge much higher fees for phone orders. good luck.

It's my first flight and I'm scared! I have no idead what to do!?
Ok so it's not a long flight, one hour. lol But what scares me is it's my first air flight and I have no idea what to do and expect! My mom cannot get off with me because San Antonio airport doesn't let people who are not getting on a plane to actually get off! That's absurd but whatever! Anyway we booked the plane online from Southwest airlines. I have the printed sheet that I need but what do I do with it and what do I do with the suit case!? I don't even know what a boarding pass is and where I get one. Or do I not need one since I have the receipt from the internet? Also if the plane leaves at 2:00 what time do you suggest I get there? Help!!!

Here are some Tips :- 1. Don’t conceal it. Tell the gate agent when you check in, the flight attendant when you board, and the passengers around you when you sit down. It’s nothing to be embarrassed about, and what you need is support, not added frustrations by suffering in silence. I know I make a special effort to check in on my fearful fliers several times during a flight. 2. Treat the turbulence like bumps in the road. Don’t tense up or fight it, but instead, let your body sway with the aircraft movements. 3. At check-in, ask for a seat at the very front of the cabin as possible. Turbulence is usually much greater in the back of the aircraft. If you have an extreme dread of flying, don’t try to overcome your fears on a long flight. Take the shortest flight you can and preferably in the biggest plane possible. 4. Keep distracted. Watch the movie even if it’s bad or you have seen it already. Read a book or do a crossword puzzle. Do anything that keeps your mind occupied and not dwelling on morbid possibilities. 5. There are various classes for those who are afraid to fly. In some cases the final test is an actual airplane flight. The courses used to be quite expensive, but now with fares being at an all-time low, I am sure the classes are less expensive as well. 6. Avoid coffee or other caffeine products as an overly hyper state of mind will only exacerbate your anxiety. But drink other liquids, as dehydration only contributes to the fear process. Some people recommend a glass of wine to calm the nerves, but don’t overdo it. 7. Listen to peaceful and calming music. Your mind tends to wander and hear sounds that either don’t exist or are perfectly normal flight noises. 8. The rubber band technique. Wear a rubber band around your wrist and if you feel yourself becoming agitated, snap the rubber band against your skin. Apparently, the pain is a reality bite, and takes the mind off the turbulence. 9. Avoid gory details. When an air disaster does occur, avoid the graphic details and overplay in the news media. It is important to be informed, but too much is too much. 10. Breathe deeply as often as you can, and remember that the sick bag in front of you can be used as an anti-hyperventilating device as well.
2 :
First, take a deep breathe! Flying really isn't that bad - I took my first flight about 6 months ago and it was 12 hours (on and off luckily). I had no clue what to do either, but here's what to do: Arrive AT LEAST an hour early to avoid any delays! When you get to the airport, go directly to the check-in counter (this is usually clearly labeled and at the front of the airport, maybe off to the side a bit). Hand them the paper you have and let them know where you are heading. They will help you from there - ask about your boarding pass, you usually print this when you get there (at least I had to). He will ask if you want to check your bag. If your bag is too big to carry on, you will have to check it. (make sure you put something on your suitcase so you can recognize it as yours, this can be a ribbon). Then, take your back to the security desk (if they don't do this for you). If you are unsure where the security gate is, ask or follow the person in front of you. Make sure you don't bring liquids in your carry on, they will make you toss it! but cecked luggage can have liquids. Then hand the security guard your boarding pass, go through the metal detector, and once done, head to your gate. Then wait to be boarded! Good luck, let me know if you want more info! VERY IMPORTANT! CHEW GUM WHEN YOU TAKE OFF BECAUSE THIS WILL STOP YOUR EARS FROM POPPING! ^.^
3 :
get there an hour early... go to the southwest desk and ask them for help you can get directions and you give them your luggage.
4 :
I agree with the previous people but I would suggest getting there 2 hours early, not just an hour.
5 :
The printed sheet is called your itinerary ( this is paper provides your with vital information: WHAT TERMINAL YOU WILL LEAVE FROM; YOUR FLIGHT NUMBER; THE DAY OF TRAVEL; YOUR FLIGHT DURATION; AND YOUR ARRIVAL TIME). When you get to the southwest area, outside there will be a man that will look up your flight and check you in. You give your bags to him and he will put stickers on your luggage and print out your boarding pass( you will use your boarding pass like you use a ticket at the movie theater: it is how you are able to get onto the plane). When you check in for your flight there are 2 options (curbside or inside). Curbside is when you park out side of the airport doors and give a man( skycap) your flight information. If you use curbside, you will need a credit card because most airlines charge for baggage. If you only have cash, then you will be required to check your bags inside of the airport( this is a longer process). If your flight leaves at 2:00, I suggest that you get to the airport at 12:40 since it is your first time doing all of this. Do not be afraid of flying because a flight attendant will tell you about the safety features of the aircraft before the plane starts moving. The will tell you what to do if there is an emergency landing on water or on land. I suggest that you take an isle seat ( if you are afraid of heights or if you would like to go to the restroom during the flight)--- I suggest that you sit in a window seat, if you want to take pictures of your first flight or want to see what it is like from SO HIGH UP. If you have an MP3 player, you should bring it with your or even if you have a Portable DVD Player. Even though your flight is one hour, sometimes they can be shorter by approximately 20 minutes. After you arrive at your destination, you should go to baggage claim(ever airport has signs that show you how to get there THEY ARE ALWAYS DOWNSTAIRS). When you get to baggage claim, you will look at the flight number and airline that you just came off of, and will wait for your luggage to roll around--- it also helps to see where people from your flight are walking to JUST FOLLOW THEM. **** I almost forgot, the earlier that you get to the airport, the more likely your changes are of sitting at the front of the plane( this is only with SOUTHWEST AIRLINES). The earliest time that you can check in before your flight is 4 hours.... Good Luck and Thank you for flying Southwest Airlines...
6 :
Don't worry, just do it. Your ears might hurt, the stewardesses might be jerks, and as soon as you take off, you will land. It won't be a big deal.

Where can I find cheap trans-atlantic flights

Where can I find cheap trans-atlantic flights?
In a few months I plan on travelling to Texas from here in Scotland in around July for about 2-3 weeks. Specifically I want to go to San Antonio and I can fly from either: Edinburgh, Prestwick or Glasgow airport. All I need is a flight from one of these places to an airport in San Antonio. I don't care about any factors other than the price - the cheaper the better Can anyone recommend any websites I can use that will give me cheap flights? -Thanks!

Call a travel agent for that information. You have a lot of variables and it is a long time from now to be getting prices. The airline business is volatile and prices change constantly. Or, you could sneak out to airport and hide in the wheel well of a main mount. That ride will be quite chilly, so dress warmly.
2 :
idk about flights but say hello to Shamu for me will you?

I just use Yahoo Travel or one of the other travel sites. Another option is to check Aer Lingus. I think they have pretty good fares from the east coast of the US to Ireland.

Bought Airline Tickets on Southwest and a week later they're cheaper

Bought Airline Tickets on Southwest and a week later they're cheaper?
I bought a round trip airline ticket from San Antonio TX to Reno NV for 152 dollars both ways and now only a week later they're 129 dollars both ways for the same flight I will be on. Any chance southwest will refund the difference?

Read the terms of purchase. . in most cases no. Even if they did give you a refund it would be like a credit not cash or back to your card.
2 :
I have not flown Southwest for a while. It used to be you can always cancel and the funds go into your account. You can then use the funds electronically to purchase a new ticket at the lower price. Then you'll have $23 credit in your account that you can use towards a future purchase. I am not sure if their policy has changed or not. Edit: Since I got a thumb down, that probably means someone knows Southwest has changed their policy. I know how it used to be because I used to cancel and re-buy at the lower fare. But have not flown with them for over 8 years. Edit: Yeah ok. I looked it up and I was right. They have not changed their policy. http://www.southwest.com/fares/pop_fareCompare.html You can see all of their fares are "reusable" so you can cancel and rebuy. Of course the credit in fare difference only makes you return and buy from them again!
3 :
No. Just as if the price had gone up, you would not be charged extra.
4 :
No........would you be willing to pay more is the cost of your trip went up...........sorry.......
5 :
They might. I don't know about Southwest, but there have been many times I've called Northwest after the price of a flight goes down and they always give me a voucher for the difference. There may also be a minimum price difference required as well; I don't know if they'd give you a voucher for a difference of less than $75 or $100. I would definitely call the airline and check. It doesn't hurt to ask.

Going to Peru from Texas by air is usually like that expensive?over 1000$!?
I want to go to peru from San Antonio this summer. I searched flight tiket, but it is too expensive, over 1000$ (about four months may to august). Is there any flight ticket site cheaper than that? I really want to go to Peru if you know any good flight ticket site or information, please let me know.

Try Kayak, Priceline, Expedia, Travelocity.com, they are cheaper, only $700+.
2 :
Its over $1000 since you are trying to fly out of a small airport. San Antonio is semi-small, so its going to be a bigger price since it isn't a hub for any airline. On Continental Airlines from Dallas to Newark then to Lima the price round-trip with taxes for one adult is $815.20. Plus, you could probably get a flight from San Antonio to Dallas for less than $150, and your trip would still be less than $1000. Email me if you need anything else!

According to FlightAware.com, the exact flight time is 1 hour and 40 minutes. Have a great trip!

Call the airport before driving there on the day of traveling.

On the home page of San Antonio Airport there is a link to departures and another to weather, where there is a further link to "hurricane alex". Keep your eye on the departure page as they give you information on flights some hours ahead - http://www.sanantonio.gov/aviation/ Good luck.

Connecting flight help

Connecting flight help...?
I'm leaving for Philly next Thursday from Dallas the only bad thing is I have a layover and I've never had one before. So I'm wanting to know how does the layover work as far me getting to my next gate..I have a layover in San Antonio I arrive there at 10:25 and depart at 11:25 is that enough time to get to my gate and make my flight? Again I've never had a connecting flight so any advice would be great! The airline is Southwest
Air Travel - 4 Answers

1 :
It depends if your original flight is delayed. It will be tight, regardless. You will usually board about 30 minutes before departure. I would say it is enough time only if your original flight is 100% on time. When flights are this close together, my best advice to you would be to go right to your gate as fast as you can. Do not stop anywhere, get to your gate first. If you need to go to the bathroom or anything, do it after you arrive at your gate.
2 :
first you are mixing up a layover with a connection a layover is like a stopover (or a overnight connection thats consider a layover you only have a connection and I dont understand why you have to go though San antonio when you are leaving from Dallas you are going backwards! since San Antonio is like south of dallas and Dallas would be closer to Philly (unless you meant to say you are leaving from San Anation and going to Philly with a connection flight in Dallas is that really the case? here you also dont mention the airline either so it mostly cases your connection should be okay
3 :
Connections are sometimes out-of-the-way. I have flown Chicago to New Orleans with a Boston stop
4 :
San Antonio is not a really big or busy airport so I would say that 1 hour for a connection is plenty of time. When you land, just look at the TV screen to find out what gate your connecting flight to Philly will depart from and then walk to that gate. You should not have to worry about anything. If you cannot find the gate, ask someone such as a restaurant or store employee.

How much money do I need for a vacation in Texas

How much money do I need for a vacation in Texas?
I'm going to San Antonio. I'm in a hotel right next to the alamo and other tourist attractioons. How much will I need PER DAY not including food, hotel, flight, or transportation. Essentially, how much do I need for fun per day?
Polls & Surveys - 2 Answers

1 :
It depends what hotel you stay at
2 :
Excluding your hotel and travel costs, I'd estimate you'll want about $50-60 per diem. That'd include seeing a sight or two like the Alamo or the space needle, eating lunch on the riverwalk (about $10.00), a decent dinner (let's say $20.00), and shopping for trinkets. Depending on how hard you party at night, whether you eat breakfast at your hotel, and how much shopping you plan to do, your mileage may vary.

Best airline for London

Best airline for London?
I'm planning a trip to London this coming Spring Break (March) and I'm looking at airline prices. The cheapest I found was US Airways but I've heard such negativity about them that I wonder if I should take that chance. Granted every airline has its share of complaints. The flight would be from San antonio TX to Charlotte NC then Gatwick. Should I take this flight? For 50 dollars more, I can get continental airlines to London Heathrow. Trust US airways or not? (Virgin Atlantic is not available in my state). And will fares continue to rise? I cannot book until Jan.

i would go with the flight if its the cheapest...personally...but there are several factors to consider...the fares might go up...but just book asap I personally perfer to fly into london heathrow...because you can take the tube directly into the city...it costs about 8bucks and is fast and easy...just make sure you can easily carry your bags (you wont have to life them for long...but you will need to manuver them...maybe take them up stairs from gatwick you will have to take rather a bus or a train...which prolly isin't worth 50 bucks by any means...but will be more expensive and be less convienent...bus is probably cheaper...but i'd book that ahead of time...taxis are super nice but so expensive! I personally love and have always flown to london with British airways.,..there great, super realiable...with nice seats with your own personal tv and access to tons and tons of movies and shows and the ablity to pause, rewind, start over...its realllly nice...but go with the best deal for sure!
2 :
There isn't necessarily one best airline, because the prices vary often. You really just need to put your time in and do a lot of comparing. Your best bet is to check out the website BookMe. You can compare ALL the reputable travel ticket sites, and save money. Good luck!

British Airways is the best (from Houston). You get what you pay for.

On international flights, if you get to the airport really early can you get a better seat

On international flights, if you get to the airport really early can you get a better seat?
I am flying from San Antonio - Dallas - London - Nice. If I arrive at the San Antonio airport early, can I ask for an aisle seat, exit row seat, or a seat in the front row for the Dallas-London flight when I check in? [Right now on my itinerary it says the Dallas-London flight seat is unassigned. ] I'm flying American Airlines
Air Travel - 9 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Most of the time the seats are already reserved, however it is possible sometimes to get a better seat, I have done that by going very early
2 :
The earlier you are, the more choices you have to "negotiate". Let your wishes be known at the check-in counter, otherwise they will plop you anywhere the computer says. First come, first serve.
3 :
Yes, you can. I'm not sure of American Airlines' rules, but US Airways will allow you to. I usually go up to the baggage counter and ask for a bulkhead
4 :
In San Antonio, the agent may not be able to assign you a seat for Dallas-London because that flight is not departing from San Antonio. You can still ask. When you arrive in Dallas, go straight to the desk that has the destination listed on it, and ask for a better seat. They will be able to better serve you. You can also call American Airlines, and ask for a seat today.
5 :
Actually, I have arrived pretty late and gotten an upgrade to first class since the flight was overbooked. I think it was 50$ extra...but hey....first class to Europe is GREAT!
6 :
I'm flying American airlines domestic and when I booked my reservations I it allowed to chose my seats too why didn't you do that? I got an aisle seat easy enough you might be able to into your reservation book your seat now go online and check
7 :
Just call American and tell them you want to select your seats. You can check the specific seat numbers for your type of plane on this site: http://www.seatguru.com Your chances are very small of getting an exit row. Be aware that front rows (i.e. bulkhead seats) usually mean crying babies.
8 :
i fly at least 8 times a year and most of the 8 flights iam in first class and when i reserved my seat i was in Business class.
9 :
It has nothing to do with what time you get there. You are supposed to get there 3 hours ahead of your flight time anyway. You are supposed to buy your ticket online or at the airport counter, and whatever seat they have, you have to take it-or if you order your flight seat months ahead of time, you'll get a chance to pick which seat you want. If you do not buy a ticket, you are on stand by and IF they have room, they'll put you somewhere at the end.

Does anyone have connections with American Airlines?!!! HELP please

Does anyone have connections with American Airlines?!!! HELP please!?
my fiance is flying in from San Diego and there flight is running a little bit late and is scheduled to arrive in Dallas (DFW) at 10:40 and his connecting flight from DFW to San Antonio leaves at 10:50. He has to get from Terminal C to Terminal D ASAP. Is there anyway they will hold the flight... do you think he'll make it? Now the flight from San Diego says it's arriving in Dallas at 10:33! I hope he makes it! His flight arrived in Dallas at 10:36 and its says flight 550 to San Antonio isn't scheduled to leave Dallas until 11:20 but now it's terminal A! I think he will make it! I KNOW he will! :)

if there are enough people on the transfer flight they have to delay it.
2 :
i really doubt it you can bet his first flight will be later 90% chance. usually all planes are late. he will be having to wait for another flight. good luck,
3 :
It's hard to say...they won't hold a plane for just 1 or 2 people. If there are a lot of people connecting, they may wait a few minutes, but not much more than that. All you can do is hope his connecting flight is a little bit delayed. I don't want to worry you any more than you already are....but to be honest...the aircraft door typically closes 10 minutes prior to the departure time. Meaning the door for his connecting flight will close when he is just landing.
4 :
Thats a tight one. The answer is because it is the last flight of the night they may indeed hold it..depending on how many other passengers are booked on that connection. the worst case if the flight was delayed due to mechanical they will put him on the first flight out any carrier..second if it was delayed to to weather they will rebook him in the am on AA. Chances of the hold are pretty good as it is so tight...I have been in the airline industry for 30 years and I would hold and actually have run over to other gates..met the plane and ran people to the connection... Good luck!! Jennifer!!!

I have never been on a plane and have no idea where to even start. I need a cheap flight from TRI Tri Cities Regional Airport in Tennessee to San Antonio TX Itnl Airport. Is there a site I can get a round trip flight for cheap. We are going for my husbands Air Force Graduation in Lackland. Thanks. We need to fly out of Tennessee April 14th for San Antonio TX, and Return home to Tennessee on April 17th from San Antonio TX. We live fairly close to Asheville, NC also if it would be cheaper to fly from there.

did you forgot something? liek the date? you could fly southwest but they only service nashville so i;m not sure how far that is from tri cities but usuallt southwest is one of lowest but with out a date thats the best we can do '
2 :
If you will go to www.tripadvisor.com and enter your dates, it will compare prices on all the search sites. Southwest does not fly from TRI.
3 :
Cheapest combination I found would be on American Airlines; for those dates, out of those cities. $371.50 average cost per passenger in US Dollars $743.00 total for all passengers American Airlines Can be booked on www.aa.com; or if doing reservation over the phone, you can provide the following fare code to get the price. AA TRI→SAT QB14XQD1 fare AA SAT→TRI NA14ERD1 fare

you can search and compare the cheapest airline tickets and airfares online within one website, and grab the best deal ever. http://www.finddirtcheapairlinetickets.com
5 :
All the above answers are good. You can use orbitz, travelocity, or kayak. Also look on the website for the airport you will be using to see which airlines service it, and you can go on the individual airlines sites to check if they have specials. Book your tickets as soon as you can since you are flying during spring break and ticket prices will be higher. Since you are flying out midweek and returning on a Sunday you should be able to get a little cheaper price. If you have never flown before, make sure you familiarize yourself with security guidelines, what you can and can't take on the plane, what you can take through security. http://www.tsa.gov Make sure you get to the airport at least an hour before departure and are at the gate 30 minutes prior. Check in at the ticket counter with your photo ID and your confirmation number which you will have received when you book your tickets. (you will not get a paper ticket, they are all generally electronic now.) The ticket counter will give you your boarding pass, you can check your bags at that time and you will need to show that and your picture ID to get through security and on to your gate. You must be on board the plane 10 minutes prior to departure or you will be denied boarding. Good luck, and thanks to your husband for his service.

How long should I leave between flights

How long should I leave between flights?
I'm planning to fly from San Antonio to Chicago on American Airlines, then take Chicago to London on Virgin Atlantic. How long of a time should I leave between my Chicago flight and my London flight? Right now I'm booked for 1 hour & 10 min. between flights, but is this long enough?
Air Travel - 3 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
That should be enough, especially if the airlines booked it that close. I've never been to Europe, but I've gone through customs a few times when I've flown to Mexico. Almost every time the layover was only about an hour. Yes, we felt rushed (couldn't stop for something to eat, but just got something on the plane)...but we made it. Keep in mind that many on the same flight as you may be going on your connecting flight.
2 :
Yes, it should be plenty of time. Also, most flights that take off on time land a few minutes early; we've flown many times in the the past year and have been as much as 40 minutes early and were never late. That's not always the case, but it's becoming common - they schedule it that way on purpose. If everything goes normally, you will have enough time to get to your plane. If you do happen to be late, the flight attendants can help. They have a list of connecting flights anyway, and will sometimes call the airport to see about holding close connections. You can also talk to the agent who meets your plane at the gate, and they can sometimes get a plane held for you if necessary. But it rarely comes to that.
3 :
1:10 in Chicago is gonna be real tight if everthing is on time. American and Virgin are in different terminals. You'll have to go throught the whole check in/boarding pass routine and security BS at the international terminal again.

About three hours I would imagine, assuming it is a direct flight with no intermediary stops. It also depends on the plane. I know it was about 2 hours and fifteen minutes from San Antonio to Chicago in one of those 50 - 60 passengers jets that a tall guy can't stand up all the way in.

American Airlines turned my 3 hour layover in Dallas to 45 minutes. Can I change it

American Airlines turned my 3 hour layover in Dallas to 45 minutes. Can I change it?
I bought these tickets in about February. I'm going from San Antonio > Dallas > London > Nice originally I was going to have a 3 hour layover in Dallas..which I liked since it is such a huge airport. I just looked at my itinerary and it's now a 45 minute layover. There are flights from San Antonio to Dallas every few hours.. Can I change it? I'm just nervous I won't make the connection, because it would be a huge mess if the flight got delayed and I was unable to make my London flight. Or do you think I can handle it? it's all American Airlines. Except British Airways when I get to London
Air Travel - 4 Answers

1 :
45 minutes is tight, but it's impossible to answer unless you also include airlines involved.
2 :
Firstly, they would not have changed it unless it was still within the minimum connecting times, and your checked in luggage will be transferred automatically. All you have to do is walk from one gate to another in the same terminal. However, try phoning them and expressing your concerns - they MAY decide to increase the delay without charge.
3 :
try flying stand by you can watch this vid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VmFUBudBPm8&feature=channel_page
4 :
First the change occured most probably because of a schedule change or cancelation of the original flight. 45 minutes is enough, for Domestic/International transfer when it is only American involved, but it is better to have a little more time between flights, when you have more flights involved. Call American (or your travel agent, if you booked with an agent) and ask them to rebook you on an earlier flight from San Antonio to Dallas. They should do this with no charge, as it would be considered as involuntary rebooking.

Ehh I-10's hit or miss. I haven't been to San Antonio since early 08 but I know they were doing construction all over the place on I-10 back then. I'd leave at 6 just to be safe.
2 :
If you leave right at 6:15 you should make it by 7am actually you may make it to the airport in about 35 minutes. You should leave at 6am to be safe in case there is an accident. The rule of thumb is that you need to check in 45 minutes early and you are 'giving' yourself an hour....Leave at 6am.
3 :
Usually around 6:15 the traffic is not so bad. You may want to leave just a little bit earlier though to make absolutely sure you get there on time. I would not leave any later than 6:00 personally and maybe even earlier if I had to park in the long term parking and needed a ride to the terminal.
4 :
I used to go to UTSA and if you take i10 south to 410 east to the airport in the middle of traffic it will take you 30 minutes. At 6 am you would get there in 15-20 mins. But still leave at 615 or sooner, better safe than sorry. Hope this helps.
5 :
10 minutes, no stress.
6 :
Why not take Death Loop 1604 around to 281, then 281 south to the airport? I'd figure a half hour that early in the morning. (Sorry, I know it hasn't been called the Death Loop since the mid-80s, but it sticks in my head, especially if you say it with the kind of voice that those douchebag wrestling announcers use.)

Connecting Flights

Connecting Flights?
I want to fly with my 3 kids to Seatlle, I live in Austin and the tickets are too high. If I buy the tickets in San Antonio the are much cheaper. The flight from San Antonio to Seattle connects in Houston. Since Im not familiar with San Antonio, and my sister lives in Houston (like 2blocks from Airport) could I catch the conecting flight to Seattle from Houston? Even if I buy the tickets that orginally leave San Antonio. I checked the tickets from Houston to Seattle and they are super high.

No you cannot do that. If you did not show up at your originating city of San Antonio, the airline would say you are a no-show and will give your seat to someone else. I can understand your frustration with the airline ticket prices. Here in Cincinnati, we are ranked highest in average ticket price. Delta operates over 90% of the flights out of here so they charge a premium. People will drive to surrounding cities to catch a flight just to connect in Cincinnati before arriving at their final destination.
