Which airline is better: Northwest or Continental

Which airline is better: Northwest or Continental?
I'm flying from D.C. to San Antonio. The prices are almost the same so I was wondering about leg room, in-flight entertainment, etc. (I tried going to both of their websites which didn't help much.)

Continental

they're the same nothing special

Northwest is the best when it comes to entertainment and leg room. They are very high class when it comes to that. Continental is good also, but there tickets are a little cheaper than Northwest.

NorthWest

Customer service-wise, GO WITH CONTINENTAL! :)

I would say they're probably about the same, as far as customer service and legroom and in-flight entertainment. (They probably don't offer much or any). But they're still probably the two best domestic airlines in my experience. I would go with whichever airline has the more convenient flight times or connections. If it's worth anything, Northwest has better hub airports - Memphis, Detroit, and Minneapolis. Two of Continental's hub airports are pretty bad, Newark and Houston (not THAT bad but not the best either).

Northwest...

I have flown on both airlines and I would say I think Continental is the better of the two. You will probably get a free meal with Continental. On Northwest, you would get the chance to buy something on board or get nothing at all. Leg room is about the same, but I still prefer flying with Continental.

Made a reservation by linking 2 seperate flights, short layover, what do i do with my bags

Made a reservation by linking 2 seperate flights, short layover, what do i do with my bags??
I'm flying from San Antonio to Cleveland next month, and it was cheaper to make one reservation from SAT to Chicago, where I would be changing planes, and another from Chi to CLE. My layover is only 55 minutes, how can i get my checked bags all the way through? I'm on Southwest for both flights

they will take care of bags for you unless it is a carry on
2 :
I have flown many times with a layover of less than 55 minutes, and have had no problem with my checked baggage making it to my destination. I don't think you should have any problem.
3 :
Ask the checkin clerk to have your bags checked through.
4 :
When you check in at the airport in San Antonio, tell them that you are flying with them all the way to Cleveland, and you'd like for your bags to be checked straight through. They should be able to do that for you, so that you don't have to pick up your bags and re-check them yourself. Good thing you were flying on the same airline for both flights!!!!!!!!
5 :
As long as you let them know when you check your bags in at the Southwest counter that you are connecting to another Southwest flight to CLE, they will move the bags for you. If you are making separate reservations, make sure to TELL them about your plans WHEN you GIVE them your bags. Your second reservation might not appear in their system in San Antonio! If you TELL them, they will definitely check them through for you though. Have fun!
6 :
I'm not entirely sure how Southwest works as I work for another airline, however, you should be able to show both itinerary's at the ticket counter and have them book your luggage through to the final destination. Otherwise, the 2 Carry-on's that TSA and the Airlines allow you work great, just leave room in one for your purse as they've been getting stricter on this rule lately.
7 :
Just make sure to tell a Southwest agent when you check in for your first flight. Give them the details of your second flight, and they'll check it all the way through.

I worked for another airline and all you have to do is show a copy of the itinerary to the ticket agent at check in and they can check your bags through if that is their policy. Be careful booking seperate segments like that. NEVER book 2 airlines especially if Southwest is one of them. They do not have a ticketing or baggage agreement with any airline and will not transfer bags to another airline. 55 minutes is a good connection time, but not enough time to claim and recheck your bags. You should ALWAYS find the airlines policy before booking like this. Two seperate tickets are not a good combo. If one plane is delayed and you miss your connection, you will not come up on the connection list for back up protection and you would potentially lose your reservation. Utilize their online check in for both flights just in case. But if any delay's occur, inform the gate agent of your connection and they could possibly have you backed up on the next flight ahead of time. Again, it all hinders on their policy. Each airline is different. If you book seperate segments like this it is advisable to carry on if you can. This way you wont have to worry about your bags misconnecting. If the agent does check your bags through, physically look at the bag tag once they put it on your bag. Make sure it says Final Destination CLE and not MDW (Midway). But again, the only way to have the bags checked through if they allow it is to physically show the itinerary and receipt to the ticket agent at check in.

Best city for Texas vacation

Best city for Texas vacation?
My boyfriend and I are considering taking a 4-5 day vacation somewhere this August. At first we were thinking San Diego or maybe even Las Vegas. I did see a relatively cheap flight from the New York area to San Antonion, TX though and thought that might be fun as well. Does anyone have any recommendations on which city in Texas is the best to visit (i.e. San Antonio, Dallas, Houston)? Also, if I did decide to go to San Antonion, what are the best attractions to visit? Thanks for your help and recommendations!

go wherever is cheapest b/c those cities are all great. there are quite a few sites that you can search that will likely give you the best prices available. just go here: http://cheapest-travel-ever.info/rr76 and you will be able to compare prices on all the reputable travel sites in just a couple minutes. it's very convenient and will save you a bunch of time and money. Also, make sure you buy them online... otherwise they charge much higher fees for phone orders. good luck.

Nothing special. There are no televisions or any type of entertainment, unless you bring your own. Buy on board food will be served. That is pretty much the whole thing. Flown on AA's MD-80's several times without any special service, but at least I made it to my destination without any problems.
2 :
no negative comments? umm....ahead of row 30 or so, you don't have a view of an engine out the window
3 :
When on any MD-80 or DC-9 series aircraft, don't get a seat in the rear if you can avoid it. The airline doesn't matter. The engines are back there and they're right next to the fuselage. If you're not deaf when you board, you will be when you deplane.
