No airline is bad its just from incidents that happen with a few people and they start spreading that its bad. Aslong as its not overly expensive and on a 5 hr flight you should want food. That will keep you happy.

I had a short flight with them from NC to NJ and I thought it was OK. The flight attendant was very friendly and I really don't have any complaints. My friend's mom told me an interesting story about them though, she said once she was flying from another state to her town. She went to see if it'd cost less to go to a nearby town and have a friend pick her up there, but it cost more, so she went straight to hers. But they ended up landing in the nearby town anyway and then took a smaller plane to hers. It was part of the flight, but still cost less than it would've to just stop there.

I fly frequenly for business and live in the Phoenix area where they have the headquarters. US Airways flys many flights a day from here. Now first and foremost with airlines its not who you like the most its who you dislike the least. They are pretty much all loosing money and then tend to take things away from employees and mistreat them - guess who is next in line? the customers. Southwest is different - they hire employees who seem to like people and they train them better as well. Southwest projects - "hey we are all in this together - we wont lie to you or abuse you. Our job is to get you from here to there the best and most efficient way we can. we can so lets have a laugh and make the best of it - no movies, no frills - lets just get there. at least you know what to expect. Many of the policies all airlines implement make little sense - its possible to have either a good experience or bad depending on the flight, crew, the other passengers attitudes etc. US Airways is fine - in my experience on domestic flights Southwest and US Airways are my first choices. Alaska is also very fine however they tend to cover the pacific NW only. United and Delta for domestic flights tend to be pretty abrupt as does American lately - all three have low happy factors. One thing you will always find with domestic airlines is inconsistancy. One day they will tell you some rules are this and that, if you were on another flight, another airline, or fly another day on the same airline the next week - its all different. So its the luck of the draw. International flights are completely different. Singapore airlines has fantastic service and the domestic guys when you fly international have completely different service - Delta to Brazil is great service out of Atlanta. Phoenix to Atlanta on Delta is a flight which should be likely outlawed under the Geneva Convention. Domestic flights within other countries is usually superior to US service - China air within Asia is much better service than our airlines. In any case, nothing is wrong with US airways especially on a short flight like that. Take a bottle of water (Purchased of course for 4 dollars on the other side of security) along with some food like trail mix or a power bar + a magazine and you will be there before you know it. Keep your expectations low, and prepare to pay for everything - lugguage, anything on the airplane you did not bring and soon - I expect to see pay toilets (just kidding but it would not surprise me) good luck and have a safe and happy flight

Let's put it this way. In a consumer survey conducted earlier this year by the University Of Michigan, airlines ranked as one of the worst industries in America for customer satisfaction. (Consumers actually ranked the Internal Revenue Service as better than airlines!) And, consumers ranked US Airways as the worst major domestic airline. That being said, no major domestic airline is very good. The seats are the same size. Inflight service is pretty much nonexistent. Customer service is awful. You could be on American, Delta, United, or Northwest and not notice much difference. So, don't worry about it.
