When you are flying to a destination which two different airlines are involved, is there a higher chance of..?
having your luggage lost? Next month, I will be flying from San Antonio, to New Haven Ct., and the first flight will be American which will take me to Dallas, and then there is a fllight that is US Airways that will take me from Dallas to Philladelphia, and then on to New Haven. Ive always followed through with the one airline from beginning to end, this time I had no choice. I booked my fight with a travel agency on line, and since American doesnt go straight through to New Haven, they put me on US Airways from Dallas. Im just so afraid of loosing my luggage. Anyone had any problems with flights like this?

No, the odds are pretty much the same whether it's the same airline or different ones.

Logically, your luggage may get lost....besides, US airways is number one for lost luggage...especially at PHL

Put a typed copy of your plans along with your cell phone number on the inside of the bag. If it does get lost then it has a better chance of getting returned to you.

The odds are a little higher, but not much. Staying on one airline is not a guarantee that it can't get lost, either, so don't lose any sleep over it. Just to be on the safe side, I suggest packing one change of clothes in your carry-on bag along with toiletries, medication, and anything else that you can't afford to lose. In the unlikely event that your checked bag does get lost, you can at least change clothes and brush your teeth the next day while you're waiting for it to turn up.
