Southwest Airlines or US Airways?
I'm flying from San Antonio, TX to Phoenix, AZ. I've flown Southwest before but not US Airways. I've heard some people say never fly US Airways and others never have a problem. It's only a two hour flight but about $40 more if I fly on Soutwest. Any Suggestions?

I flew US Airways once just to save money. Never again. Most flights I've been on are quiet and rather enjoyable. Not this one. It was the stereotypical flight you see in commercials where there were screaming kids and people talking almost to the point of screaming. It was the same on the flight back. I didn't realize a few bucks made that much of a difference.

You might want to have a look at these reviews of both airlines before considering: -US Airways: http://www.airlinequality.com/Forum/us_air.htm -Southwest: http://www.airlinequality.com/Forum/sth_west.htm The other answers you have probably have the same opinions about both airlines as the ones in the forum.

SOUTHE WEST FOR SURE, FOR US AIRWAYS I WILL LIST THE CONS: UNCOMFORTABLE SEATS ALMOST ALWAYS DELAYED OR CANCELED ALMOST ALWAYS LOSE BAGGAGE NO FREE FOOD ABOUT TO ME NO FREE DRINKS EVEN ON 5 HOUR FLIGHTS HORRIBLE INTERNATIONAL FLIGHTS ABOUT TO BE ONLY DISCOUNTS FOR FREQUENT FLYERS- NOT FREE FLIGHTS CHARGES FOR ALMOST ALL BAGS SO MUCH NO FEET ROOM NOW THE PROS FOR THE US AIRWAYS NOTHING SOUTHWEST IS THE EXCACT OPPOSITE OF US AIRWAYS AND ESPECIALLY A BETTER VALUE RO QUALITY TO PRICE

Southwest. Definitely Southwest. Don't go near US Airways. Every single time I flew US Airways, I've had some type of problem. The only thing I've had to deal with on Southwest is delays due to weather, which is obviously something they can't help.

I would take Southwest. US Airways has a high rate of mishandled baggage. They are also charging passengers $15 to check-in the first bag while Southwest does not charge until the 3rd bag. US Airways has gotten rid of the free pretzels and drinks. Now they will charge you $2 for a can of soda.

My boyfriend has a brother that lives in Dallas and works for Southwest Airlines, and a brother that lives in Germany and worked for US Airways. His brother that works for Southwest loves his airline, and flies it as much as possible. The brother that worked for US Airways didn't even want to fly the airline, and two years ago said that US Airways was making too many budget cuts and he thought they were going to go under. Obviously they haven't gone under, but it is a little harder to trust flying an airline that their employee wouldn't even fly. I have personal experience with southwest and would definitely recommend it over any other airline. They have a great staff, great rates, and worry-free flights. They don't have first class, so no one is treated any better than anyone else. They have a great snack pack and they are advertising their "no hidden fees" campaign. We flew them in March with the kids, and the flight attendants were so great. It seemed like every 10 minutes they were bringing the kids snacks like pretzels peanuts and juice to keep them occupied. They talked to them a lot and the flight was smooth and no hassle at all.

To fly exclusively with Southwest, I'd pay $50-60 more. For numerous reasons, but especially because Southwest has one of the best overall Customer Service records. Truly, I can't put a pricetag on the value of great customer service!
